We here at Shenanigans are kicking around the idea of setting up a Sci-Files competition. I am thinking that if we could get about 20 or so of the top bars in the country to participate it would be worth doing. So I'm trying to gauge interest in an event such as this.

Is anyone interested? I'm considering a 4 to 6 week competition in Sci-Files, possibly October through mid-November. The working title right now is "Rock paper scissors Spock lizard." Shenanigans will provide an appropriately cheesy trophy for the winner.

This is just in the planning stages right now. Let me know if you're interested and we can take it from there, thanks.

The proper order is rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock. Sheldon can't deal with errors such as this. :D

Unless of course the reversal is intentional and I simply missed the humor.

Never miss a chance to screw with Sheldon's mind. Ponit taken, i'm making a command decision and revising the title.

I don't know that we could make it every week, but Gavv and I would play in this contest at 86th St Pub.
Two down, 18 to go.

Thanks. You were on our short list of potential players already.

There is a group out of The Cold Spot in Charleston, WV that may be interested in this. They usually play wednesday nights. If you get a date set, I'll contact them & let them know.

I just hit three and hope for the best in SF & there's no way I'd try five PMs.

Our team would definitely be interested, but as with 86th street, it's hard for us all to get out regularly.

Sounds like a great idea. COOGS and I will put our two-person team at SRO OT in.

I won't be in any tourny that could have teams playing the same game hours apart. Since I am where they get the game hours later, if I put my self in, I wouldn't play, so I won't play. Figure that out..

Maybe you should invite ROGUE for Meas, AZ he gets a kick out of playing repeat games.

I neglected to address the split in my original post. Circumstances being as they are, this competition will have to be East bars only. This whole split thing sucks. But it is what it is. My bad for not mentioning that earlier.

It's probably just as well. There's only enough room in this thing for one sports guy in geek's clothing anyway.
Did you even play Sci-Files before the split? Am I wrong in thinking you're not an sf goober?
Also, why couldn't we accept west coasters? Are we that desperately afraid of people cheating in this little ditty?

Yes, I occasionally played before the split. Even won a few nationwide games. Those are easy to miss when I only played a dozen games or so in the full year prior, slightly more than that but pretty close.

if you launch this, I'll talk around and see if I can get anyone in Atlanta to care enough to play for a string of Wednesdays. I could see a pretty fair team if I could get a few players to tear away from Live Trivia.

What if I changed my mind and decided that I would like to participate? Am I still not allowed, just curious?

You can come play with us, Lewser. Beer's on me. We've pulled #1, #1, and #2 three weeks in a row, so we should be worthwhile teammates :D

I talked it over with my team and we are ok with select West teams. You are in if you want in.

Well, hell, someone at NTN Buzztime must think that Nightmare On Elm Street qualifies as Sci-Fi. :(

They often veer into horror, just not into the "name of the character in a horror movie" type setting. Still should have gotten it, but was pretty far afield.

I think it falls back into Buzztime's old "Sci-fi" means "Science AND Fiction" not "Science Fiction"
