Not much attention to ANY special events. World Cup four years ago had a game built around it. Nothing this past year. Nothing big for Super Bowl.
And the last Oscar game, I was still living in Virginia (I'm pretty sure).
I'm now on WVBTO IV, and wondering if it is worth the effort. At least, it might benefit a local, non-franchised establishment.
It's really sad that you'd have that kind of attitude in hosting one of these events but I can definitely see where you're coming from. The company doesn't care about anything anymore it seems. It's this very piss poor attitude from them is why I'm making it a priority to make both events this year in case one or both of them seem to go away....not to mention the company itself possibly.
I used to love when there was just a channel A and a channel B. We were at a BW-3 during the playoffs and so wanted to put QB-1 on for both games on a saturday (wild card weekend). I had to miss the first game because there were people playing both trivia and poker so couldn't cancel one of them to put channel C on. The second game, I finally get it switched over after showing the locations general manager how to do it (yep he didn't have a clue there even was a channel c) and we get to play through the first half...comes to the 3rd quarter and out of nowhere switches back to Channel B. I didn't think anyone had done this because in order to kill a channel it comes up on the screen and I didn't see anything like this, plus I had to show management how to do it so I doubt they did it. That's still a mystery to me. so we logged back into channel A, played a couple trivia games and left....pissed off. I've never seen a company want or try to fail like they obviously do. Unreal.

Tony, I don't mind putting together the WVBTO. However, it's harder to reach folks to send invites. On the thread about the new content manager, Vlad states that he wants to use "social networking" to enhance and promote the product. It just seems odd to me that BT appeared to be ahead of the curve when the site had the forums...a type of social networking that allowed people to communicate on the threads or send a PM. But that is now gone.
I'm looking at the BT site and can't find a way to contact folks and let them know the WVBTO date or invite folks who are not on this site. The "MY Buddy" feature is about worthless to me. And I just noticed the special "clubs" (not sure what they are really called) the other day when trying to let my friend Paul know about WVBTO. Hell, if I knew e-mail addresses, why wouldn't I just e-mail them {OK, I'm sure that there is some easy way to get my message to certain folks that I'm missing, but couldit be any easier than the PM feature was. You could PM or e-mail or both!?).
Add to that the lack of PEOPLE at BT that would help me out or answer our questions, like Jeremy and Mary. I'm hoping the local rep gets back to the manager at the Sports Page to send the PMs necessary for the little soiree. (TOLLE said that the rep in Cincy did a nice job last year & it did seem to go smoothly).
I guess I'm just getting old and can't keep up with all the new "apps" and technology. My life has not been worse for never "tweeting" and those of y'all on Facebook know that I do not spend much time there (if I haven't "friended" some of y'all, it's mostly because I'm not on the site very much. Mostly.)
In the end, I bother because I enjoy doing some thinking with my drinking and don't like to drink alone. The BT boards allows me to fool myself into thinking that I'm not drinking alone (despite some tea & Dr. Pepper sippers out there...ya bat rastards).
