Looks like someone forgot to tell the webmaster of the new schedule as the landing page still shows tonight's premium games at 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, and Speed at 9:45....egads! :o

They didn't do anything either regarding the patches. I was thinking they would show a patch count on your personal page

Either the webmaster is sleeping after watching the completion of the 500 early this morning...or he/she is protesting the network split!

Surely, there won't be any problems with the new rollout today

They can push changes to the cell phone app, but they can't update their web pages? really?

The "Schedule" page seems to have all the new times on it. However, the "Showdown" page still reports that it is a 75-minute game.

As of 12:35pm EST, the entire web site is down "for scheduled maintenance". Didn't see any scheduled maintenance email, though.

I've worked for several companies in the IT department, either directly or indirectly with their web site. Never would we bring down a site in the middle of the day unless it was an emergency. Everything was done after hours so as to not affect the customer/client. This isn't a good sign for Buzztime's IT quality control.

Sure seems that BT shoots from the hip a lot.

As an aside, my site had "Night Shift" games instead of "Lunchtime Trivia" today. Did anybody else have that challenge?

We had the same thing in Ashtabula. Late Shift games, but a Lunchtime Leaderboard. Continued through entire lunch hour (12-1 pm EST). Knocking the game off and selecting Lunchtime didn't help.

ROFLMAO! Well, at least this way they avoid the first wave of protesters invading their blog and contacting their bot with complaints. But what a way to make sure even more folks are upset and frustrated in the first place. Great strategy, Buzztime!

BTW beyond the hypocrisy of calling emergency changes "scheduled maintenance," I've always why they haven't figured out that "Currently the website is unavailable for scheduled maintenance" means that no scheduled maintenance can be performed on the website at this time. The correct wording would be: "Because of scheduled maintenance, currently the website is unavailable."

FWIW, the owners' website is also "unavailable for scheduled maintenance." Unfortunate, as we just added the upgraded digital advertising and I was going to use it for some interactive promotion during our Leap Day party tomorrow. Hopefully it will be back up soon enough.

Damnit! I logged on today to carry out some maintenance (which I had scheduled), but was greeted with that message!

I could just see the Change Control meeting for this morning:

Manager - How is the new phone app? Is it ready for roll out?
App team - Yes Sir. Tested and ready to go.

Manager - Great. And how are the new games? Ready for roll out?
Game Team - Not sure, sir. We think we might have a problem with some games showing up at the wrong time. We'll have to test it out when we move it to production.
Manager - Test in Production? Why not test in the test environment?
Game Team - Because if we did that, we wouldn't know how it would behave in production

Manager - ooooooook. Well, Web Team, are we ready for roll out?
Manager - Web Team? Hello?
App Team - Uh, sir, the Web team is out on the beach surfing. They should be back around 10am.
Manager - Ok, well that should be before our lunch time game on the Pacific coast, so it won't be any problem. Good job guys. Now, go enjoy a cold one.

Gotta say - I like the new color scheme of the website. (Not so much on new Countdown...)

Reminds me of the ouroboros serpent/dragon (the one eating its own tail). Actually, I think BT might have come up with a very apt depiction of what the company's decisions are doing to its established player base.

I think it's hilarious how the frame is split open

EDIT: Woop, need to update my avatar now!

ANOTHER EDIT: Maybe this is old news, but you can play Countdown on that game's page in an embedded window. I got 10,649, which is kinda ehh for me. Like the BT trivia on Facebook, a wrong guess is an automatic zero

The logo looks like a game screen when viewed from a crappy angle; above you, off to the left and a bit too close. Ironic in that it seems to acknowledge that in most Buzztime locations, sports (or even American Idol and Desperate Housewives) have priority and trivia players end up with the crappy angle.
