Been musing.

BWW is planning on /depending on BT technology for mobile order entry for all their restaurants, though apparently paying the bill is not part of at least the initial rollout, and may stay as a separate function (though that sounds pretty dumb)

Lots of chains are rolling this type thing out or are at least beta testing.

BWW must have some competent folks.

They are relying on BT, and the tablets seem functional at least so far.

From someone who dearly would like to see BT continue, I think this is a pretty strong indication that they have a chance for a viable future in the mid-term.

BWW may have competent folks, that may make up for the inept Buzztime brass. I honestly would prefer Buzztime to fail and someone with some brains fix this crap... No sports games, very few national games, etc...

The split still sucks you nitwits..

Who here thinks that Buzztime is capable of winning a techno format war, a la VHS vs. Beta, Laserdisc vs. RCA, etc., in the coming restaurant function tablet market?
To BWW, the trivia isn't going to make the difference, if another one of the tableters in the arena is better at the serving line streamlining, they will switch, and that will be that for trivia and for Buzztime. Dontcha think?

Are they actually depending on BT technology for the ordering/paying with tablets? The tablets are literally just Samsung Galaxy's, unlike the blue playmakers which were presumably designed/manufactured by Buzztime directly. I assume the software will be run through the tablets concurrently with the trivia software, but do we actually know if this software will be developed by Buzztime?

If Buzztime is successful with the mobile ordering-payment system at BWW, then that will become their main business. They will sell their mobile technology to other restaurant groups with trivia, cards and arcade games being optional features restaurants can choose or disregard. It might mean you could play BT trivia at Olive Garden or not.

If just 10% of the people who play live trivia on a weekly basis played Buzztime too, the BT trivia future would be very bright. How do you get them to start playing?

By offering them good nationwide games. Not games that have been watered down and sabotaged throughout the years. Just think about the initial incarnations of all the premium games compared to the current product.

I did wonder what looked like a credit card reader was doing on the bottom of the tablet.

If that technolgy was around when Hooters had Buzztime, they would still have it...But maybe Applebee's and 54th Street Bar and Grill could bring the tablet to more of their locations.

I agree with you, maybe it will be the opportunity to get Hooters back in the fold, but a tablet will never replace the Hooters girl.

That's not just what it looks like, that's what it *is*. The tablet I used at the local BWW last week had a drawing of a credit card next to where you would put the card in the slot.
