New Scaratings

Many of us know how to access the Manager's Function on the old blue playmakers. There's a default passcode and many locations change it to their own liking. The universal "backdoor" pass code is known by many too. What about the new tablets? How is "manager's function" accessed and is the "backdoor" code the same as on the blue playmakers?

I believe the old code was a secret, that only the initiated knew. I have no idea if it will work on the new tablets or not. However, JESSE will know, and I will talk to him about this tomorrow.

Dammit, this is something you DO NOT post on a public forum. Sure plenty of people here are aware of the backdoor password, but it's downright silly to post it publicly. PLEASE either Cloudy or a mod delete the code.

Furthermore, since there is no known way to choose MANAGER FUNCTIONS from a menu, or even access a menu, or even access any sort of choices, how is JESSE going to know? Believe it or not, Jesse isn't the end all be all of BT access. There are quite a few right here that know tons more than he does. Has he even played at a tablet site?

Totally agree with BO! That code should NEVER have been published on a public forum.

The Mangers Function for us players is to switch Ch B to Sports.....when i go back to Creve Coeur, i investigatge on it..but even if i find it, they won't tell me the code anyway.

Shit, I guess I goofed up. I had no idea that this was such a deep, dark secret. I thought that just about everyone, who is a Buzztime nut, knew it. I have deleted the magic code from my post to make you all happy.

However, I wonder how many of the Buzztime experts on this site didn't already know it, and I doubt that any of the uninitiated would have picked up on it, let alone known what to do with it, if they did.

Hubris is probably too strong a word to use, but I sence I feeling of elitism from those, who feel that only they should know the magic code, and lesser people should be kept in the dark.

p.s. The bad guys that you are worried about most likely know the code anyway.

But you are most wrong about the perceived elitism here, with that code you can do anything and everything to a BT CPU at any non-tablet site. Do you think just anybody should know it? Do you think just anybody should be allowed to mess around with it?

Tell you what, how would you feel if you were at a BT site looking forward to playing various trivia games when some random walked in off the street and programmed in kids trivia for everybody to play for the rest of the night? Just how pissed would you be? And no, most bad guys have zero clue about any of this.

And frankly, it's guys like Jesse that have the code that cause trouble with it. He goes into various sites and instead of the premium/specialty game block, he programs in more CD games. How would you feel if you went to a BT site with the intention of playing Glory Daze, Showdown, and Brainbuster, but instead got even more CD games? How would you feel if you made a special effort to play a Topix game you've been waiting years for, but some idiot programmed in a different game?

For what it's worth, there are tons of people on this site that don't have clue one about BT. The fewer people that know about it the better.

Hmm, Kids Trivia sounds good to me. How can you get it...?

I have seen people who will force end any game that they are losing, and there are certainly many people out there who would do exactly that if they knew the code. Call it elitism, call yourself Edward Snowden, whatever, making that code public knowledge available via a simple Google search would without a doubt make Buzztime trivia a shittier experience for everyone.

Last night, if you were a big Pharrell Williams fan and really wanted to play last night's Playback game, if you stopped into Wallaby's in the Kansas City area, you would have been shit out of luck because some sandbagging jackwagon with the backdoor code decided to program in Countdown instead of actually playing a game with new questions against true competition.

But the worst thing was the person in question left after the first CD game and others were playing. Instead of playing Speed Freaks and Ask it Already they got to play even more CD. So not only do people with the code get to force their will on others, they can do so when they aren't even playing.

So sure, let's just give everybody the code so none of us can playing premium games.

Why should people who care about the entirety of human knowledge that isn't related to the caterwaulings of some 20-something smackhead foist that crap on ourselves for the entirely imaginary benefit of a purely hypothetical pop-music maven who somehow would wander in at exactly 6:59:59 and grab a box if I hadn't selected more edifying fare?

Huge difference if nobody ever plays at your site. But the jackwagon in question forced others to play what he wanted and he wasn't even there!

You hardly ever miss a game of Six, let me ask you this. What if you walked into a site ready to compete for #1 against the nation only at game to find out some local yahoo has programmed in CD? Just how pissed would you be? Well that's what the jackwagon described above has done several times recently.

Hey, I'm not a fan of PB either, although the upcoming 80's game is tempting. But I'm of the opinion that the premium/specialty game block should not be deselectable.

What would I do? Check. I often do so, at home bars even. Maybe there are places where devoted players of specialty games walk in at random where they have never been before, and without doing some simple homework, but I doubt there are many, and I doubt most such players do so without looking at history. I'll be in Nashville on Tuesday. I've looked to see where SD et al are generally played (more to make sure that trivia itself is routinely available rather than to avoid programming out, but that check achieves both ends). I'd imagine a dedicated PB specialist visiting here would do the same.

I rarely play in places that have other players, period, let alone devoted specialty fans who haven't dropped by before. I am also, believe it or not, reasonable enough to not change programs when there are other network players already playing in the place (the one decently attended PB game on the link includes me for that very reason - and also shows how rare it is).

If premium games were not selectable, BT bars and BT itself would lose my custom Mon, Fri and Sat nights. Despite their fervent hopes, it doesn't seem hordes of 18-34 yo hip cool dudes are champing at the bit to fill my seat does it?

Sure, I do as well. But we have the code, most do not. So you have to imagine visiting sites to play games as if you do not have the code. At the mercy of whatever games management or those with the code want to see played.

Hey, many players here (including sheep aficionados) have the common sense to know when and when not to use the code. But some do not, and that creates problems. The code is power, plain and simple.

Count me in this group, although I've only played trivia for ~10 years, so I'm sure in comparison to most here I'm not an "expert".
