I have seen promos for this book between games. Has anybody read it? The premise appears to be that Arthur Conan Doyle was "Jack the Ripper". That doesn't seem plausible to me, but the book seems to be getting good reviews

The book has a Facebook page that says that Daniel Friedman is a pediatrician in New York City and lives on Long Island. I have no idea where he and his father play or what user names they use.

Both Dan and Gene play nearly every Tuesday at Houlihan's/Westbury. While they may not be die-hard Buzztime players, they're at least die-hard Showdown players. Not sure that they have a handle they use regularly, some of the players over there don't play a box, partly because they don't have a lot of boxes there, partly because some just don't want to. Rudy (SQUARE) is the publisher of the book, he's also a Tuesday regular there. He also published all the Buzztime trivia books (like Joe Franklin's Entertainment Trivia). Some of the players there helped out with the questions in the book (you didn't think Joe Franklin came up with all those questions, did you :) ). Gene is mentioned in at least one of the books as helping out with that.

They ever sucker you into contributing to those books?
A buddy of mine asked for my help with something similar on a sports book.
The research was fun but the editorial process was coma-inducing.
I ended up just burning him a disc from live games I'd given over the years that had about 5000 sports questions on it.
Done and done.
The great thing about trivia is that it doesn't require resourcing, merely accuracy.
