Just curious if anyone else experienced this last night.

After Sci-Files last night, I looked down and noticed my name was now "Stein". I thought someone had played a joke on me, until everyone started talking about how their boxes had different names.

Turned out that the system had re-assigned all of our boxes to the names of people who had been playing poker that night.

This happened right after Sci-Files, before Pastimes.

Our boxes continued to give credit to our real names on the trivia board, but said the wrong name on the box itself.

The only way to get your name back was to log off and back on again.

I have something similar happen all the time. Just last Friday JAMIE logged in it changed LEWSER to JAMIE, but it still credits my JAMIE with my points. There is nothing you can do to fix the problem until the next game, I switched boxes, it still said JAMIE even after changing boxes. During the load time for the next game I re-logged LEWSER and it stayed LEWSER the rest of the night. BT said this problem was fixed just like many others, but it is not fixed.

We had the same thing happen at BWW. I did report it, so we'll see.

Same thing happened to me tonight during the SIX game and my name returned after a break. Crazy.

I think I finally figured it out last night. It appears to happen immediately after the Bud Light questions. I had it occur again last night at a completely separate bar, and, again, was poker player names.

I thought it was just the vodka, but before SIX started I logged out TOOTS and tried to put DUMDUM in the game. Every time I tried to answer on the box it gave me zero points...and still showed TOOTS up on the tv screen. I just logged out and back in again as TOOTS and it was working. Weird.

We had the exact same thing happen during Six as well. No one was playing poker at my place so I have no idea where the names came from. Mine new name was something like Dan_H. I've never seen anyone by that name at my bar, either playing trivia or poker. Anyway, hitting 'menu' then hitting 'Play Six' corrected the problem. Before we figured out what happened one of the guys I was sitting with assumed his box was on the same frequency as another box and made a mad dash to swap out boxes smack in the middle of the Marathon round. Fun times.

We had this happen on Wednesday at the Goose. It happened to two different boxes ... strangely enough, the name that came up both times was BONZO.

Well, I guess the problem may have improved a little bit. I noticed it last night (happened about 3-4 times) but I ignored it every time...and the name always changed back to my handle name after I answered the very next question.

In my case, the funny thing was the name on my playmaker changed from my handle to my actual real name (cues up the "Somebody's Watching Me" song  )

it happened to me 5 times to me tonight in Brainbuster and Showdown. I did the MENU-ENTER procedure to return to my handle, but one time it happened and my box froze and couldn't do the procedure.

I warned people of this problem when I arrived last night and asked everyone to let me know if it occurred. I also explained the fix

After all that, we didn't experience this problem last night...we had continuous poker play as well..no idea why this would be a problem at some sites and not at others

We experienced this at two locations last week. Call us lazy, but we didn't implement any 'fixes' at all. The names seem to just change back on their own, and the scores aren't affected. So, although this thing might portend trouble in the future, I don't see the problem in the here and now.

One thing, though...lewser's post here was about an entirely different problem, one we've experienced on rare occasions as well. All of a sudden your box will be under a fellow player's name, and apparently it stays that way all game. For purposes of team play it hasn't hurt us too bad, if at all, but it's a glitch as far as individuals are concerned, and quite the weird phenomenon. Has been rare, though, like I said.

Now, a far worse problem that we've been experiencing has been 'ghost boxes,' and this has happened probably in every location we've been. You log in, your box tells you after every question how many pts. you got for that q, but no total score or rank, and you or somebody else eventually notice that your name isn't up on the screen. You in fact don't exist. We've reached the tentative conclusion that it happens when you log in too close to the start of a game.

I've noticed the "ghost box" thing with the "legacy" games like Speed and Showdown that are still on the old system. It has happened to me when I logged in too close to the beginning of the game (as you said) or after the game has started. If you do a quick Menu/Play, it seems to fix the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion. Any chance you keep the points you'd accumulated up 'til then?

Huh? You keep all of your points when this happens. Happened to me well over ten times tonight.

Must only happen to two-channel sites, we haven't had any problems at our single-channel location.

(Bugz has a couple of boxes in for repair and we had an abundance of players and ran out, so I used my own E-bay box tonight and managed to program it for an in-service box number and caused a bit of confusion. In my own defense I asked everyone what their playmaker numbers were and programmed mine accordingly. Somebody lied! :D)

You of course know that box belongs to BT and if the right person sees this, they will demand it's return. Normally PM's get pulled from Ebay quickly because the seller has stolen equipment.

I'm not sure if we're on the same page on this one, but it's a problem that I have reported to BT several times. I've noticed that at several sites, once someone logs into a box, it isn't available until after the premium games are over. This is especially true on Tuesdays. It starts with Brainbuster and continues through Speed. Once someone logs into a certain box, that box doesn't record scores until after Speed is finished. Even though the player logs out, another player can pick up the box and play without getting his scores displayed or recorded. In fact, the player's name will not even be seen. In addition, the original player can log back in and play. That score will be accepted and the PM will function normally.

Oh, wow. So, I guess on Mr_Ale/Lewser/Your/My posts that's like 3 different messed up problems?

FWIW, I seem to remember having what you reported happen a few weeks ago on a Thursday. I thought I just had a bad box.

I've found that if you switch over to Poker/Sports Trivia and switch back to Showdown/Speed your score will show up again on the leaderboard. Yes, people have told BT about this issue.

No, after brainbuster, someone will show up and we will log off and offer them a box and that box will not take the login. That player will not get credit on a card either that involves that game.
I have noticed that problem in Six and Spotlight too, but only after the game starts and does not involve a block of games.
