The loss of the PM feature makes it tough to try and organize an event. I still get PMs from folks at the BT site about attending a get together.

I do have many folks' phone numbers & I can PM folks from this site...if they have signed on. The BT site allowed me to get in touch with anyone with a P+P account.

I don't see myself twittering anytime in the near nor distant future.

That's a shame, for those of us who don't facebook or twitter. Tiefly, you may have to take the great leap into Social Networking.

Yes, I agree with this. One of the advantages of the PM function on the BT website was that one could easily contact a person from any team if, for example, you wanted to extend an invitation to play in the McCarthy Cup or Sandbag Tourney. Only a fraction of people who check in on the website are either here or on BadBart, so it will be more difficult to inform especially newer teams about these things.

Oh well.

Most of you have my email address. You can email me and say in care of what ever. If I do not I can pass it by email to try and get someone else that has it to get them to give you a email address from them or something.

Who the fuck would ever want to tweeter something and facebook is full of lame, scamming assholes. No need for that crap when I can read what you have to say on here. :o I guess I just don't get what BT is trying to do with trying to push people over to shitter and disgracebook by turning off the PMs. Are there really that many BT players on those 2 sites? I doubt it.

NTN Buzztime, Inc.
For those of you who are sad to see Buzztime.com's Private Messaging go on hiatus on the 8th, the date has been extended to 11/15 instead.

I feel for the people that are trying to arrange things. But, what do you expect from a company full of nit-wits?

I really couldn't disagree more. They may make mistakes and sometimes I don't understand their actions or motives, but they're not nitwits; far from it.

Oh, so you're saying the company has bettered itself in the last five years?

Awesome changes like 15 minute 4 choice games 24/7 which nobody wanted?
A SL final question that nobody wanted?
A revamped Six that is a mere shell of the original version?
A round in PB that everybody hates?
General trivia that is 50% pop culture in nature?

There certainly are classy and smart employees at BT, but nitwits could have made better programming decisions over the last five years than what we've had to endure.

We all know the product has declined over the last five years, and you say they are far from nitwits? Are they just that much smarter than the rest of us then?

You are trying to put words in my mouth. I don't like that! I did not say that they never make mistakes, I'm just saying I don't consider them to be nitwits. And, frankly, even though Buzztime has their share of problems, I really don't think insulting their company or their employees is going to solve anything.

yes, the Buzztime product has declined in the last five years..however, compared to mainstream TV networks, newspaper/magazine industry and popular music industry which have all floundered around dealing with changes to technology and have fallen off a cliff product-wise, Buzztime is doing fairly well.

BT is none of the above. They have a total monopoly in their field. That's the only reason a lot of players are still with them. With proper decisions over the last five years they could have 50% more players per game easily.

This I agree with. I remember when the games had a better balance of questions and were written better, one could usually count on several players staying until closing time. Sometimes, I was one of them. That doesn't happen much anymore. Now, a couple hours of punishment is all I can take.

I'm past the point of caring what they do on their website. Are they nitwits? Well... Yes they are and there is too much evidence of this for me to think otherwise.

Pushing aside the fact that Buzztime is chasing a demographic that doesn't exist, I do get why Buzztime is intent on using Facebook since every company in the world is now also posting there. But Buzztime's problem is they're using Facebook as its primary outlet. Every other company is using Facebook as a supplement, not as its primary avenue. If Facebook were hijacked tomorrow and was knocked out of business (not gonna happen, I know)...then every other business would still be totally fine. But Buzztime would be screwed.

I look at the number of people who are playing the premium games, For example Showdown now attracts about 7 to 8 thousand. A few years ago it was 10-11 thousand. The play at my site is down, It is just boring to play.

I also think that Buzztime does not want the minions (US) communicating . That was the main reason they took away the message board, not that people were unruly. I don't care what they said. Buzztime found itself in the position of sponsoring a message board that was telling them how screwed up they were. They watched us put together the little pieces of the puzzle. So to avoid a general uproar when they decide to do something. they shut down the message board. So next step is to shut down the PM.

Lets face it when they switched to that stupid four question game the message board exploded.

Is there any PM functionality yet? I have no groups, buddies, etc so didn't know if it was done through that.

Not that I've been able to tell. Groups and buddies don't seem to have much direct communication capabilities.
