Just got a notification via Facebook to send an email to appsupport@buzztime.com if I was interested in the Moble Playmaker app for the Android. I did, and got an email back from a person directly telling me they will keep me in touch. Looks like the Android app will be out soon, and there will be more blindfolded trivia playing.

If anyone could care less, the Android playmaker app just came out and is available for download.

They should be announcing this far and wide.

Is it available in the Marketplace? I searched for "Buzztime", "ntn", and "playmaker" and didn't see it.

It sure is. I've already downloaded, installed, and tested.

Care to share how one would go about finding it?

I just searched the marketplace. That was it. What version of Android are you on?

What search term did you use?

To be honest, you don't need to wait until tonight. It worked fine for me in my office, and I'm about 5 miles from the closest bar. Playing "blindfolded", of course, so I can't see the questions, which kills the game average

Most of the time I'm having problems trying to get past "building site list". Anyone else experiencing this issue?

The app was uploaded last night and from what we were told can take a while to propagate, which is why we haven't announced it wide yet. We sent an email out to the people who emailed us (only way you wouldn't get an email when you specifically asked us to email you about it is if your email address is unsubscribed or held (bounced 3 times) in our system). Anyhow... press release to go out soon, but until then we can't really comment on it.

You should be able to just search "Buzztime" or "Playmaker" and have it pop up.

I'll try it again from home, and I'm not inside this concrete box of an office. Are you on the data network or WiFi? Who is your provider?

It's working at home, and several other locations, so I guess it was just my office. The only thing I don't like is that it appears to be an exact port of the iPhone app. The Android phone has a Menu button that the iPhone doesn't have. Would be nice to have an "exit" in the home menu instead of having to hit back so many times

It won't connect to the location server. Figures. Needs to move to SD card. 27 megs? WTF?

So no more whining? Finally. Glad it worked for you.

It's listed as 500-1000 downloads now. Not bad for 1 day. If people would stop rating it four stars because they don't understand how applications work, it might have a change of being a featured app.

People with more time than common sense download EVERYTHING free, then complain when they don't know what it does.

Hey Tom from Buzztime here.

When we initially released the app on Monday, we followed a suggestion to turn on copy protection that somehow doubled the size the app. We have turned this off and it has returned the file size to 13 mb.

Per the ability to move the app to your SD card, my understanding is that this is a feature for phones running 2.2 and above. Our app was built to support as many phones in the filed as possible, so we built against the 1.5 Android OS which should work with most of the phones in the market.
