I believe that calls for some coffee...

Very funny, ICEMAN, but both you and I know that is Juan Valdez. His mule now lives with DANTE and Sarah, because she loves all of God's creatures. Sarah could be the kindest woman to ever walk the ground of the planet Earth.

As smart and knowledgeable as you are, ICEMAN, I think you are wrong on this one. Teddy Roosevelt is the traditional answer for "Good to the last drop", but Teddy didn't invent the parachute. Some say it was Sebastien Lenormand in 1783. In 1495, Leonardo da Vinci designed a pyramid-shaped chute, that probably would have worked, if anyone ever tried it.

p.s. ICEMAN, have you ever parachuted...? I have twice, and I would like to do it again one more time before I die. This is an invatation to you to join me in my last jump. There is a place in Kentucky, not to far from Louisville in Green County, where we can pray that our canopies open up, as we tumble towards hitting the earth at terminal velocity, and dying. Let me know if you want to step out of the aircraft into what looks like certain death, and I will do it with you. :D

.................................................. Image

................... "Slow down ICEMAN. You didn't pull your D-ring. I sure hope I can catch up with you, and pull it for you."

p.p.s. If anyone else would like to join ICEMAN and CLOUDY on a parachute jump, please let me know. I've got a feeling that we will have no trouble fitting you in. GERONIMO... !!!

p.p.p.s. Does anyone know why I tossed "Geronimo" into this silly post...?

p.p.p.p.s. When I was about six I tried my first parachute jump. It was with an umbrella off the top of the bleachers at Hobart College in Geneva, NY. The umbrella immediately flipped inside-out, and I fell about 15 feet to the ground. I didn't die, nor did I break any bones, but I never tried it with an umbrella again, and I never told my parents what happened to the umbrella.

For the fourth Saturday of March 2012...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

As I suspected and feared, my California Golden Bears' baseball team was forked by THE ICEMAN's Arizona State Sun Devils in the first game of their three game series this weekend, dropping them to 11-8 and still winless in Pac-12 play. Image THE ICEMAN's Sun Devils are 14-7 overall and 2-2 in Pac-12 play after last weekend's 1-2 at Jackie Robinson Stadium on the southern campus. Image

Perhaps this question was too tough, but I thought one of you "Coffe Drinker" guys would have figured it out.

The first picture is of J.A. Folger, the founder of the Folgers Coffee Company. The second picture is quite obviously of William Shakespeare. So where is the connection...? J.A. Folger was the uncle of Henry Clay Folger, who was the founder of "The Folger Shakespeare Library" in Washington, D.C. His library with its large collection of Shakespeare-related material, is best known for its 82 copies of the 1623 Shakespeare First Folio, as well as many earlier quartos of his individual plays. It has perhaps the best Shakespearian collection in the world, and I also hear that if you stop by the place, the coffee they serve there is pretty damn good too.

..............................................Image

p.s. Will has a brief comment:

...................................................................... Image

............................................... "Drop on by. The coffee is good, and you might just like the plays."

It's never too late for coffee, you just need to throttle back.

Kinda saw this Lisa Love thing coming. She didn't exactly endear herself with the alumni. From what I have read so far, Patterson is a step forward.

For the fifth Saturday of March 2012...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

It is looking more and more that my California Golden Bears' baseball team will not get back to The College World Series playoffs, after getting forked twice by THE ICEMAN's Arizona State Sun Devils last weekend, managing to get a win at Fresno State, then dropping the first game of this weekend's series with The Texas Longhorns to fall to 14-10. Image THE ICEMAN's Sun Devils are 16-9 overall (3-3 in Pac-12 play) after splitting a pair of games earlier this week with The California State University Fullerton Titans, and seeing yesterday's game with The Oregon Ducks get rained out (imagine that). For the second Sunday of April 2012, Easter Sunday...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

It is looking more and more that my California Golden Bears' baseball team will not get back to The College World Series playoffs, even after taking two of three from The Texas Longhorns last weekend, since this past weekend The University of Southern California Trojans took two of three from The Golden Bears, dropping them to 17-12 and 2-7 in Pac-11 play (Colorado has had no baseball team since 1980 due to Title IX). Image Hopefully The Golden Bears can start a badly need run of wins Monday, hosting that eternally damnable junior university. Image

THE ICEMAN's Sun Devils are 19-12 overall (4-5 in Pac-11 play) after getting forked by The Oregon Ducks in Eugene, then forking The Oregon State Beavers in the friendly confines of Packard Stadium. Image

Thanks for the morning brew. 8-)

On other baseball notes, My D-Backs go for the sweep of my Giants today having taken each of the first two games 5-4. Having been born & raised a Giants fan it is tough to see them lose but I have to pull for the home grown Diamondbacks.

NL West to date...
Ducking Fodgers 3-0
Arizona Diamondbacks 2-0
Colorado Rockies 1-1
San Francisco Giants 0-2
San Diego Padres 0-3

For the second Taco Tuesday of May 2012...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

It is looking more and more that my California Golden Bears' baseball team will not get back to The College World Series playoffs (24-19 overall, 8-9 in Pac-11 play), especially after taking a godawful, horrible beatdown from that eternally damnable junior university back on April 9, followed by getting swept by The Oregon Ducks. Image. This past weekend's two of three from those wazzu cougars looks like too lil, too late. Image

THE ICEMAN's Sun Devils are 29-17 overall (12-9 in Pac-11 play) after forking the utah utes in the friendly confines of Packard Stadium. Image Unfortunately, that eternally damnable junior university sent The Sun Devils home winless after the weekend of Aoril 20-22. Image

For the second Sunday of May 2012, Mother's Day...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

My poor California Golden Bears' baseball team look more and more as if they will not get back to The College World Series playoffs (24-21 overall, 8-11 in Pac-11 play), especially after dropping the first two of three from those damnable tucson mildrats. Image. Meanwhile, THE ICEMAN's Sun Devils are 31-17 overall (12-9 in Pac-11 play) after forking the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the first two of three at their house. Image

Additionally, the 2nd ranked Lady Devils (46-7, 18-4 Pac-12) avoided the sweep at the hands of LILJOL's top ranked Cal (50-4, 21-3 Pac-12) in the final game of the softball season. Cal locked up the Pac-12 Championship the day before with a win over the Devils. Tournament assignments will be tonight with ASU expected to host one of the regionals.

For the third Monday of May 2012...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

My California Golden Bears' softball team was the last one to advance to the Super Regionals, having to rebound from an earlier loss to Arkansas by beating them twice Sunday Image. Meanwhile, THE ICEMAN's Sun Devils also advanced to the Super Regionals, also having to play twice Sunday before finally eliminating Syracuse Image

The Golden Bears will face a familiar Pac-12 foe, those huckable seattle fuskies. The Sun Devils will face Louisiana-Lafayette, who took down the eternally damnable junior university in their regional. Image Here's hoping both make the College World Series.

A belated thanks for the Monday morning brew. Image

It looks like my Sun Devil Baseball team still has a slight chance of taking the PAC-11 going into the final weekend if they sweep the Tucson mildrats & da ducks & FUCLA lose out. Oh yeah, that junior university needs to lose as well. Stranger things have happened. Image

Here, have just a lil bit of coffee...
