I wonder if this was from the same Six writer that had Louis XVI as the answer for a Louis XIV question a couple of years ago during the tourney?
Hmmmm...

46 was absolutely not on the list at Broadway Station. We all knew the correct answer, and it wasn't there. Perhaps this is the way Buzztime plans to prevent cheating when there are two feeds: only one feed will have the correct answer.

The answer "46' was definitely on the list where I played (Coyote Maverick in Danbury, CT); I pressed it immediately, and by the time the error was brought to my attention, it was too late to change it and I took a big, fat zero. So that question cost me 7000 points. Absolutely horrible goof on Buzztime's part!

46 was the first choice at the Steel Pit, in Tujunga, CA. The answer they gave as correct for XLVI, "44," was choice #3. We were gathered here together to say goodbye to National Six, and some of us were here to say goodbye to Buzztime, Buzztime gave them the finger for their farewell; which, considering how Buzztime has treated players in the West since the blog post announcing the split said West players won mainly because East players had gone home, was oddly in character. Anyway, we have a couple I doubt will *ever* come back. WTG NTN/Buzztime!

That's the same answers we had at Hardtimes in Maryland and the question definitely was XLVI.

1. 46
2. 34
3. 44
4. (don't recall something < 40)

So I guess there was at least 2 feeds that were not separated by time zones. I know BT has been scrambling the correct answer number/position to stop the phone hacks playing at 2 different bars. One feed had 46 as possible, the other had 45.

Guess we had a preview of what will be happening with 2 feeds.

Just a theory but... these 4-answer questions are sometimes just recycled Countdown questions with one wrong answer choice chopped off. Since buzztime is now rotating the answers, it looks like they've found a way to randomly post three of the four wrong answers from the recycled Countdown question. Of course, it doesn't work very well when they key in the wrong answer (44) as the locked in correct answer

They've been doing that for Buzztime Trivia since 2008. Every so often, the factoid will reference the wrong answer that didn't make the cut

Yeah, but there are five possible answers in Final SIX.

Four. In the original version of Six, I believe there were five choices in the final round, but now it's just four.

Huh. I've been playing the damned game every week for four years; you'd think I'd have noticed that. Don't I feel like an ass. Sorry, BUD!

In SIQ tonight a Q asked about an NHL player that had been with only one team. Both Martin Brodeur and Nicklas Lidstrom were given as choices. Awesome.

Countdown which has just completed asked the name of the calendar currently used. The answer was correct as Gregorian. The factoid said something about leap years being used/introduced with current calendar. This factoid should be reviewed; there were leap years in the Julian calendar, but in the Gregorian most century years are standard years.

I can't remember whether it was Brainbuster or Showdown, but one question asked for a city. Among the five choices of cities given, two of them were "Venice" (both #1 and #2 on our feed). Can anyone remember the game/question?

Well, one of the two could have meant Venice, California.

In one of tonight's Late Shift games, there was a question that went something like this: The number 2012 in Roman Numerals contains two of this letter. Of course 2012 is MMXII. One of the choices was I and another choice was M. Unless I misread the question, both of those are correct answers. During the question, I was the second item eliminated and M emerged as the "correct" answer.

Now, I had been playing trivia for about six hours, so maybe I misread the question; perhaps TomD could look at it. :)

You were definitely mistaken, this question isn't pop culture. 8-)

You are definitely not mistaken. I was too busy to play, but I saw the question. "M" and "I" were the last two choices for us, to boot. I'm thinking they maybe should just lay off of the Roman numerals. Or take a refresher course. Or hire a goddamned editor instead of another marketer.

I've spent more than a week thinking about this question:

Paraphrased: The long eared bat is different from other bats in that it's diet consists mainly of:

The answer that BT wanted was "insects".

Don't most bats eat insects, particularly mosquitoes? Are mosquitoes insects?

Poor JETS had to listent to me bitch about this question for three days.

FWIW, one of the questions asked during those wonderful NCAA breaks involves The Florida State Seminoles (believe the question included their point guard, whose name I can't remember :(). The factoid said something to the effect that Florida State was in The Sweet 16 after beating St. Bonaventure and Cincinnati. Cincinnati eliminated Florida State , but was eliminated Thursday by those eternally damnable columbus suckeyes.

Momentary thread hijack . . .

Once, I borrowed a book of curling stories and anecdotes from the library. There was this one rink that took a trip to Japan, and was billeted by a Japanese family during their stay. One of the players was an Ohio State alumnus, and at one point was referred to by somebody as "Ohio Buckeye," which garnered amazed looks and a few giggles from the Japanese folks. So, when they went sightseeing, the curlers would express themselves at anything interesting by exclaiming "Ohio Buckeye!", to varying levels of shock, embarrassment and humorous responses wherever they happened to be. The reason why, according to the story, is that ohaiyu bakay (not sure of the proper spelling) translates to something along the lines of "good morning, you stupid son-of-a-bitch"

Coincidence that Ohio State named themselves Buckeyes? I think not 8-)

I decided to not bring up this NCAA question on this thread since it was irrelevant, but it has an error in the question mentioning Michael Snaer "leading this team to the Sweet 16" (oops) as well as the factoid error that you mention.
There's another NCAA question with two correct answers about "which of these events did not happen in this year's tourney" with answers 3 and 5 both being valid.
I'm working under the assumption that these questions are the handiwork of the Six writer.
