For the fifth and last Saturday of December 2011, and the year 2011...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

My California Golden Bears made their third appearance in The Bridgeport Holiday Bowl a most godawful, horribly embarrassing one, committing five grievous bungles. Image Then again, considering that The Texas Longhorns converted those into only seven points, it could have been far worse.

Hopefully The Golden Bears will end 2011 on a good note, hosting the southern campus bruins and sending them back to westwood with an 0-2 start in the first year of Pac-12 play. Meanwhile, here's hoping that THE ICEMAN's Arizona State Sun Devils open their Pac-12 season with a win over those damnable tucson mildrats. Image

For the third Taco Tuesday of 2012...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

Some godawful, horrible news for my California Golden Bears football team following their godawful, horribly embarrassing bunglings in The Bridgeport Holiday Bowl. Those huckable fuskies have signed former Golden Bear line coach Tosh Lupoi, who has also been one of the best recruiters. Image

Then again, this year's football schedule looks like one of the most abominable in Golden Bear history. The christening of the new Memorial Stadium is the opening game on September 1 against The Nevada Wolfpack, who hung a godawful, horribly embarrassing loss on The Golden Bears two seasons ago. Two weeks later, possibly the two most difficult back to back games in any BSCS schedule, away games against the eternally damnable columbus suckeyes and The Southern California Trojans. Image

And if that was not enough, this year The Golden Bears get no bye week. However, the most godawful, horrible abomination of this year's schedule is the 115th Big Game with the eternally damnable junior university, set for October 20. Image

Thanks for the morning brew. 8-)
After looking at the ASU 2012 schedule I'm not finding much different from the previous season. Same teams, different sites. Looks like The Devils will get to try out that new Memorial Stadium the last weekend in Sept.
We shall see if ASU can improve their record with the same basic schedule & a new coach.

For the first Thirsty Thursday of February 2012...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

Halfway through the first Pac-12 basketball conference schedule, my California Golden Bears are tied for first with those huckable fuskies, though The Golden Bears have the tiebreaker by having hucked the fuskies in their only game this year. Tonight my Golden Bears host those damnable tucson mildrats, while THE ICEMAN's beleaguered Arizona State Sun Devils visit that eternally damnable junior university, hoping to extend the cardinal's three game losing streak. Image

Of course, that means for a few hours Saturday, THE ICEMAN and I will have to set aside our usual camaraderie as our teams engage in mortal battle for the only time this year. Image Then again, we can also hope that those damnable tucson mildrats and the eternally damnable junior university destroy each other. Image

For the first Sunday of February 2012, Super Bowl Sunday...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

First, the less said about Saturday's game between my California Golden Bears and THE ICEMAN's Arizona State Sun Devils, the better. Image

And, whilst I am more than a lil happy that the eternally damnable junior university lost Saturday Image, THE ICEMAN must be way more than a lil displeased that those damnable tucson mildrats won. Image

Congrats to the Golden Bears on their victories. ASU has never been known as a basketball powerhouse & this year they seem more that happy to prove that.

With the first Pac-12 men's basketball schedule entering the home stretch, my California Golden Bears sit precariously on top, holding the tiebreaker over those huckable seattle fuskies. The home games against the Oregon schools this weekend are the last ones for this year, as The Golden Bears close with away games at Utah, Colorado, and that eternally damnable junior university. Image

Meanwhile, THE ICEMAN's Arizona State Sun Devils look to improve their standing, visiting the Washington schools this weekend, then hosting the SoCal schools next weekend before closing by hosting those damnable tucson mildrats. Needless to say, my Golden Bears could use a lil help from The Sun Devils against those huckable fuskies. Image

First of all, thanks for the morning brew. 8-)

I'm sure they will do what they can against them dogs but don't count yer chickens. Sounds like ASU coach Herb Sendek has already written this season off...

Yep, you guessed it... IT"S SUNDAY!!! Here's the coffee...

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Congrats to liljol's Golden Bears on their recent duck hunt & beaver shaving.
As predicted, it looks like the Sun Devil basketball team is just going through the motions with losses to the huckable fuskies & FWAZZU.

On the bright side, the Sun Devil baseball team has yet to allow a single run in the two games so far this year. 8-)
ASU has racked up a total of 23 runs against that northern baseball powerhouse  Western Michigan.

Well, as always, thanks to THE ICEMAN for today's brew. Image

My Golden Bears needed this weekend's sweep to maintain their precarious position atop The Pac-12. Next weekend will not be an easy one as The Golden Bears travel to Utah and Colorado. Image

Meanwhile, The Golden Bears' baseball team, the almost Cinderella story of college baseball last year, opened this week with a pair of wins over The University Of Pacific, and look to complete the sweep today. Next weekend will be tough, as The Golden Bears must go to Long Beach to play the Dirtbags Image, who seem to make the College World Series playoffs almost as often as THE ICEMAN's Arizona State Sun Devils.

Looking down the schedule more than a lil, The Golden Bears and The Sun Devils square off in Tempe the weekend of March 23-25. Something tells me that I will not be looking forward to that weekend anywhere near as much as THE ICEMAN will. Image

For the fourth Saturday of February 2012...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

My California Golden Bears remain precariously atop The Pac-12, hoping that later today, wazzu hucks the fuskies. Should The Golden Bears manage to get by The Colorado Buffaloes Sunday, they could all but clinch the regular season championship, as they would eliminate all of Colorado, Oregon, and those damnable tucson mildrats. Image A win by the southern campus bruins over those damnable mildrats would also be most welcome. Image

Meanwhile, THE ICEMAN's Arizona State Sun Devils continue to look to improve their standing, hosting the cellar dwelling Trojans this evening, closing by hosting those damnable tucson mildrats next Sunday afternoon. Image

My California Golden Bears must thank those southern campus bruins for hucking the fuskies, opening the door for The Golden Bears to take the #1 seed in this year's Pac-12 tournament with a win at that eternally damnable junior university. Image Meanwhile, THE ICEMAN's Arizona State Sun Devils host those damnable tucson mildrats, with lil on the line other than pride, as both are locked into their seedings for the tournament. The Sun Devils' first opponent in the tournament will be that eternally damnable junior university, and of course I'm hoping that The Sun Devils destroy what lil chance that eternally damnable junior university has of making the The Big Dance. Thanks for the morning brew!

I don't hold much hope for the Devils advancing very far in the PAC-12 tournament but stranger things have happened. Good luck to the Golden Bears. They seem to have as good a chance as any this year in the PAC-12.

On another note, the Sun Devil Baseball team continues to roll early in the season outscoring their opponents 95-13 while compiling an 8-1 record with only two games being within two runs, one was the loss to UC Riverside. League play doesn't start for the Devils until Mar. 16th at FUCLA. I'm a bit more than a lil perturbed that the USA Today/ESPN poll doesn't even rank ASU at all whereas the Baseball America poll has them currently at #11. Just because they aren't eligible for post season means they shouldn't be ranked?

It looks like liljol's Cal comes to visit the Sun Devils for a three game series starting Mar. 23 (care to catch a game?). Cal doesn't seem to show on the BA poll & shows just off the top 25 in the USA Today/ESPN poll. Here's hoping they can move up this year (not at ASU's expense of course).
 8-)

Thanks, ICEMAN, considering that I was in lil if any mood to put on today's brew after my Golden Bears horribly bungled away their chance at The Pac-12 Tournament #1 seed.

Here's hoping that The Sun Devils destroy the wet dreams of that eternally damnable junior university in their first round game Wednesday. Image

Well, I suppose so, even though my Golden Bears and their play-in opponents, The University of South Florida Bulls, apparently have the dubious distinction of the first play-in matchup between two Big Six conferences. :(

I'm running a pool that includes predicting the winners of the First Four games

I think I'll hedge allegiances, and be Bullish on South Florida for this

The godawful, horrible performance by my California Golden Bears against South Florida will likely not be forgotten soon. For the third Saturday of March 2012, St. Patrick's Day...

Image Image Image Image Image Image

With my California Golden Bears' men's basketball season over Image, attention shifts to the baseball team, currently 11-4 after splitting four games last weekend at Nebraska, going into their first Pac-12 games this weekend against The Oregon State Beavers. Meanwhile, THE ICEMAN's Arizona State Sun Devils are 11-6 after losing their Pac-12 opener last night at Jackie Robinson Stadium on the southern campus. Image
