I went to look at the top SciFiles players on the BT site to see how my old buds in Louisville are doing, and noticed it was gone.

Down to 12 games, two of which are some kind of Eh Canada .

Is this a recent glitch, or does anyone know if it is intentional ?

Yeah it looks like anything split east vs west is gone. I don't look at that stuff much so hadn't noticed.

You can rebuild the list you want if you know Sci-Files (pre-split)'s game code, which is 92.

Start at any of the lists that are available, and at the URL, swap in 92 for the game code. Quagga is #1.

Sci-Files (pre-split) is "discontinued" and was removed from the pull-down menu. Officially, Sci-Files (pre-split), Sci-Files (East) and Sci-Files (West) are three different games, and none of those statistics are combined.

So yes it was intentional.

So people can see the rankings of games that are gone such as Nth Degree and Speed, or that aren't currently being played, such as The Season, but not the current games? Wow, did someone at BT just realize that it's rather unfair to create a combined list of top players for a game in which half the country has a significant advantage? But even so, why not have the dual lists as they do on the daily team/player rankings? Knowing where one ranks on a game over time is a very critical drawing point for players.

This was done on or a day after 2/28 when the split happened. Noticed it immediately when scraping data and quickly figured out which games were left and why and then forced to figure out all the old game codes. Yes, I think it's pretty stupid as well.

What really pisses me off is that BT can have all this ready to go on the day of a change, yet it takes them months (if they do it at all) to put games such as SIQ or Saturday Topix in the HOF when the games are moved.

They won't be combining the lists or the rankings.

The current forms of the premium games do not have leader boards yet because of the 10-game minimum rule. In about 7 weeks from now, for example, new rankings boards will become available, separate ones, for Showdown (East) and Showdown (West), because they are officially two different games in this sense. Even if you travel and have opportunity to play some of each, they will be accounted separately.

Meanwhile, the pre-split games are still in the database under the 180 day rule. The rankings boards have been removed from the pull-down menu but are still constructable via URL.

I bet we could come up with a top 100 stupidist things NTN/Buzztime has ever done and still be arguing about whether the ones that didn't quite make the list should have.

I'd really like to know whether BT wants players to care about their cumulative rankings, because they sure don't act like it. Take SciFiles -- once upon a time this was a 30-minute game, and we had established rankings. Then in August 2008 SciFiles was cut down to a 15-minute game, and our rankings were wiped out. We establish them for a second time, and then BT acknowledges that cutting SciFiles down wasn't a good idea, and so brings back the original game, and for the third time weestablish a ranking. And now that ranking is gone, so we're doing this for the fourth time.

How are we supposed to care about things when BT feels no compunction about wiping out any achievement and making us start over again?

Maybe I'm wrong here, but won't the rankings for specialty and premium games come back after ten games have been broadcast?
As to your second point about starting over, just reclaim the top spot on the new boards and problem solved. Did you have any trouble finding your way to the top in any of the previous incarnations of Sci-Files? I didn't think so. Well, since I stopped playing on Wednesdays that is...:P

Ouch, spotes, you might have some reclaiming of your own to do. Did you just get knocked down yesterday from the top spot to 4th in Countdown on those very lists?
Don't mind me though, I'm down in the 480's. Hope you get it back soon.

Aww, It's just FSHMAN.
He comes and goes in the rankings like a band of trivia gypsies.
I believe DANTE has some insight as to FSHy's methodology for
trivia success.

As do I now, as of the dawn of the Age of Badges. That gives you back the top spot after all!

Correct. FSHMAN is an outcast from a race of super-intelligent beings, who sent him here due to his 250 IQ and perfect memory being too low for their tastes. :D

I can see that as a nice, open-ended compliment spoken of a friend, Dante! Almost enough to stop someone in their tracks who might otherwise like to ask and discuss about methodology. Almost. May I ask about your friend?

I noticed this right after the revamp and asked about it. I'm not sure why the older games are showing up there still, but the reason why a lot of the newer games are not showing up is because when we split the feeds the games were given a new ID for east and west, and each game needs to play 10 times before it will show up on this page. So that's why Topix and SIX have populated (because they're twice a week) and the others have not yet. They will populate in time.
