We're working on it Francis. By the way, you should read the banning thread. Very revealing :)

I read it and retract my original statement about the fine folks of Harris County.
I'll go with "tight-fisted buttercups" instead...

So April 15th looks like the day the experiment will begin. As of now there are only 2 teams who have sworn the oath of allegiance and are registered to play: our SoCal team and Spotes. So how about it Andy, Tiefly, Clark, Brandy? The competition can commence with just 2 teams, but it would be way more fun with 3 or 4 or 5.

When's the deadline to register? This piques my interest, and I'm feeling in a generous mood, but I'd also like the chance to ask other Rembrandt folks what they're doing on Sunday. Probably golfing, now that spring seems to have finally arrived up here

Is it just me, or does this look even more ominous in print?
I feel like trivia Jesus being led to the crucifixion.
Except I sold myself out for 30 pieces of scratch. What an idiot.
For my first trivia miracle on Sunday I'm going to turn "What the...?!" into whine...

The 15th is opening weekend of Trout Season in PA and I accepted an invite to hit some prime water.

I may be able to make it to a BT site in time to participate, but with no other players.

I'll know something by Thursday.

For the bars expressing interest in this thread (all trustworthy so far), the deadline can be as late as 3pm eastern on the 15th, or 2 hours before the competition starts. I'll check my messages for any late entrants and will text the registered participants who they'll be up against. I'll also post the participating bars here for anyone who's curious.

For any bar that hasn't posted on this thread yet, the deadline to register is Friday night. This way we'll have some deliberation time in case an individual/bar that we aren't completely familiar with wants to play.

Just got done printing out my PA/Lake Erie 2012 fishing license, so I'm probably out. I won't have computer access over the weekend, even if I wanted to change my mind.

Besides, after my BWW site not giving me a $25 gift card for winning SIX last night, I'm a bit ticked off.

Have fun, y'all.

Apologize, I couldn't get any confirmations from anyone for Sunday, so we're not in...

Good luck to all, I'm betting on SPOTES, just because he likes sports (not that it will help him in Countdown) :)

So, just to make sure that I have this straight, all I have to do is outscore both the defending McCarthy Cup and Sandbagger Tourney teams over the course of three hours by myself while playing a minimum of five boards...?
I guarantee you that that overrated hack Ken Jennings doesn't have the balls to do something this completely stupid.

p.s. nothing personal BUD, I'm sure you guys will wallop me as well. You'll just have to get in line...

I'm going to be out for this. Gotta tear apart the front end of my car and fix a bunch of stuff, and my mechanic buddy is free to help me out. It would've been fun to challenge Spotes for last place, though :D

OK, so now we have 4 teams that are in: the SoCal team that will be playing at the Season Ticket in Buena Park, SPOTES (86th St), Hardtimes and Concert Pub.

Cool that The Concert Pub is in. Now we have 4.

I was just reading the badges thread by Whales & Bo and saw some disturbing possibilities. It seems that today's CD games may be repeats of the March 18th games. There seems to be a pattern to the badges repeating.

It's not definite that this will happen but if it does could those that have seen the questions on the 18th please recuse themselves from the tourney??

So doing a quick look around on who played CD on March 18th.
For 86th St I find Steve Cards and a few others but it seems he won't be playing today. Spotes did not play.
For Season Ticket/DannyK/Mr Bs no one played.
For Hardtimes no one played.
For Concert Pub both Clavin & Turpro played a long string of CD that day.

So let's hope Whales is wrong, but he HAS been right on about this stuff.

I know it's not the players fault that BT repeats stuff and I'm not calling this cheating in any way, just something to think about.

Good luck to all. See you on the boards.

BUD, it was just that 1 week span. No patterns to this weeks questions that I've noticed either personally or through badges.

We will have to do this on the honor system. We will pull out if Turpro and I think we are seeing repeat games.

It might be difficult though to determine if we are seeing repeat games or just repeat questions. We were watching golf and splitting four pitchers between the two of us that afternoon. :)

I noticed that I had a bad score during the 4PM game, so seeing questions that got us the last time might trigger a recognition of a repeat game. We will post/text something by 5PM.

Thanks Bo, didn't realize the pattern had been broken.

Clavin, thanks for honor system pledge and we trust you 100%. It sounds like it's a non problem now anyway. Be sure to get 4 pitchers of BUD under your belt by 400 today.

Hardtimes will enjoy being the underdog in this thing. Let's hope for a lot of geography and cars.

Good luck.

Hey BUD,

I played six boards solo yesterday for three hours and none of the games were repeats; a few repeat questions, but no complete repeat games. Monday and Thursday of this week were also back to normal.

I banged away Saturday for a lil bit longer than spotes :o, and have concluded what he has. :|

Well, that turned out pretty much as I suspected it would.
Now we know why executions aren't allowed to be televised...
Except for me, everyone played top notch today. Good work fellers and madams. I especially liked it when we managed to claim the top four spots. I wish I would have sucked a little less so we could have done it more often.
My best game of the day was the one right before we kicked off. It never fails.
Did I misread the Edison question? I read it as "telegraph". Upon reflection I'm thinking that it must have said "telephone". Maybe having two functioning eyeballs would have come in handy on that one. I'll just throw it on the pile of questions, most of which involved plants, that cost me perfectos today either way. There's never a botanist accidentally wandering into the bar when you need one. :(

STEVE showed up at 6:30.
I went with him on one I shouldn't have and didn't go with him on one I should. So that ended up being pretty much a push. Thanks anyway, STEVE, for trying to help defend our honor. Which is more than I've ever done...

Congrats to all playing, we had a great time. Would have sent you a text Bud but you're the only one I didn't have a cell number for. Spotes, it was telephone. Forgot to add, Bud I would have sent you a text congratulating your team but you're the only team I didn't have a phone number for.
