We had a great time at Hardtimes, never had that many playing on a Sunday. We had 7 when there usually might be 1 or 2 stragglers playing. They were surprised to see the main Wed/Fri/Sat team in there.

Lots of close games going back and forth. Season Ticket won 4, we won 2 of the 6.
Congrats to CA on winning the cash. Let me know where to send it.

I didn't catch what bar, not in the competition, took 2nd in that last 730 eastern game. Anyone remember?

Brandy I will PM you my # for next time, nice playing against you all, as we do several times a week. Too bad the monkey man didn't have a little help, 5 solo is tough.

The Bricklin question was the one we thought might have given us the win in the 2nd game. More car Qs.

Thanks to everyone for coming out on a Sunday. It was a good time and I was happy to see my SoCal Buzztime gang again. We hadn't played Buzztime together since the split.

It was a great competition and we really had to bring it to win!

I hope we can do it again soon, and others can join us in the future.

It was the "Tell Her About it" Billy Joel question which cost both Season Ticket and myself on that one.
I had a bar perfecto going and Yotcho said they had a near perfecto at that point.
And, of course, it was dreaded question number 14.

Yeah... I suspected as much.
I'm an idiot.
The only good thing about it is that it seems like every time I bugger the first question I end up running the table the rest of the game.
So, I got that going for me. Which is nice...

Glad to see everyone had a good time; I know I did. Especially memorable was the guilty satisfaction of knowing Spotes was beating us until the Billy Joel question late in game 2, at which point our advantage in hands allowed us to salvage a few more points and leapfrog him in the rankings. A-hole that I am, the pang of guilt was fleeting to say the least. And a little later everyone at Season Ticket laughed when I read Brandy’s text sent to us halfway through the last game, ‘Do you take PayPal?’

So yeah, safe to say we had fun, which leads to the question: when next? I know our team would love to do this every other Sunday if the interest was there (say, at least 4 teams playing). Even better would be 6 or 7 teams as it would be setter suit having a 2nd place payout, but 4 teams is definitely sufficient. And if there is interest in making this a semi-regular thing, it would probably work better if payouts were settled up like once a month, instead of after every competition. I think we all trust each other, and it would be a little less hassle.

Also, what about the entry fee of $30? We had 6 players on Sunday, so $5 a piece couldn’t have worked out better for us. The Indianapolis team on the other hand.... The last thing I’d want is for a team not to play because the entry is too high, but you also want to be able to buy a round or two of drinks if you win. I personally think $30 is pretty perfect, but thought I’d ask.

I have no problem paying $30, YOTCHO.
$10 an hour for trivia lessons seems quite reasonable.

With everybody's schedule it would pretty much just be me every time. But I'll try to keep my dumbnitude to a minimum going forward. :D

Playing the six boards wasn't the hard part. (It's just as easy to play six as five. Plus, that affords me a margin for error on potential mishits.)
The hard part was differentiating my ass from third base on a few too many questions.
And something else I learned on Sunday: reading the questions accurately appears to be a key element of gameplay. When did BT start that? I can't keep up with all of these changes...!

I'd be in next time, IF I can find some button pushers for me.

I have a hard enough time with gravity playing 2 PMs; I know I'd fall off my bar stool trying to play 5...EGADS!!!

The $30 wouldn't be a problem. Sundays until June I will have to get permission to kill the SI sports reruns at my BWW site, though. ( I think...I'll check rerun times).

The masochist in me needs a good beat down, other than the ones I recieve in my personal life.

I found the bar napkin I had the results scribbled on from the set of Apr. 15 CD games. Dave didn't give any details so I might as well. Points were 10, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

500 east CD - Season Ticket 1st/10pts, Concert Pub 2nd/7, Hardtimes 4th/4, 86th 7th/1

530 east CD - Hardtimes 1st/10, Season Ticket 2nd/7, 86th 3rd/5, Concert Pub 4th/4

600 east CD - Season Ticket 1st/10, Concert Pub 2nd/7, Hardtimes 3rd/5, 86th 5th/3

Halftime score - Season Ticket 27, Hardtimes 19, Concert Pub 18, 86th 9

630 east CD - Season Ticket 1st/10, Concert Pub 2nd/7, Hardtimes 3rd/5, 86th 6th/2

700 east CD - Hardtimes 1st/10, 86th 2nd/7, Concert Pub 3rd/5, Season Ticket 4th/4

730 east CD - Season Ticket 1st/10, Concert Pub 3rd/5, 86th 4th/4, Hardtimes 5th/3

Final score - Season Ticket 51, Hardtimes 37, Concert Pub 35, 86th 22

Season Ticket won 4 games, Hardtimes 2.

Pretty much a blowout win by LA, good job.

How about May 13th for the next BT for Cash competition? It's a little too late to schedule one this Sunday, and the following Sunday is the day after Cinco de Mayo (don't think I'll be fit to drive).

Sexto de Mayo it is then...

I will know my schedule for sure by the 13th, but I should be good to go.
You need to PM me with an address so I can send the blood money from last time. I should probably go ahead and just include this one too, but, unfortunately, I'm the perfect mix of one part stubborn and two parts hopelessly delusional...

Six days to go. Does May 13th work for everyone or is a postponement in order?

The Concert Pub should have a team this Sunday. Has anyone else been having a problem with the 6PM CDT rankings? We haven't been getting them for over a week. This wouldn't be good for Sunday.

Well, IIRC the godforsaken West/Repeat/Encore feed has not seen rankings at that time either. :(

BWW Bridgeport, West "By God" MAY be in.

Gotta find two button pushers...no way I can hit 5 PMs & drink at my respectable pace.

So what's the consensus? Full speed ahead or postpone a week? We do have a requisite 4 teams tentatively enrolled, and still haven't heard from Hard Times or Elsa's. As far as the 6pm rankings issue, it can be worked around if everyone texts me their bar score for the game (which, of course, can be verified the next day).

I'll be playing the 6PM game tonight. If they haven't fixed the bug yet, I will call Carlsbad and ask them why they haven't been able to remove their head from their ass.

It is physically impossible for them to remove their heads.

Put BWW, Bridgeport, West "BY GOD" in. I'll gladly donate the $30.

Since WV Blue Laws do not allow for the sale of alcohol until 1:00 pm on Sundays, if I pace myself, I can make it til 7:00.

PM me instructions on where to send the check...and congratulations to the winners. I know it won't be me "banging away"* on 5 boxes.

*banging away used with, hopefully, liljol's permission.

If you are on Eastern time, it will be good for the rest of us if you pass out at 7:00, since the games will be going on until 8.00. ;)

Miraculously, the rankings for the 6:00 PM CDT game showed up last night.
