Wow, the Boyd County jail needs to update their website. It still shows a $5K bond. Doubt anyone will put $200K and money for the smaller bond up for the "trivia guru". Going to be a long time before he gets out of jail.

Well, there are some University of Michigan fans I know who might consider posting it just to embarass OSU....

This con has polished his story. Hard to believe the newspaper even
bothered to interview him. Note comments at bottom of article. Ohio
State fans want no part of him. Watch the video. He used every excuse he could think of. It's not me. I did not do anything wrong, ever. What he does not understand is that if he goes into a sports bar again some Ohio State fan will beat the crap out of him. He has serious issues and needs more help than he has been getting from the court system.

The local comments at the bottom of the article want the writer fired for giving him pub.

That too, but Eric really does not want to meet up with this guy. See comments below.

"To Mr. Waugh...ROT IN THE **** YOU CREATED FOR YOURSELF! You are a pathetic PIG! Find another team to be a fan of...we don't need your pathetic self-righteous " words of encouragement" to OUR beloved Buckeye Players who have worked their "ares off" to become one of THE ELITE! That is what the FORMER players, and especially Coach Bruce are there for. Hope you get it up yours...Child ****...pathetic! You gross me out!"

I believe another person had the same feelings in those comments. Either way, Eric would be an idiot to ever go back to Columbus or any sports bar in Ohio. I believe this is a person people should not trust. I never trusted the guy and even more so when he started to send me PM's pretending to be someone else. Saying how great a person Eric was. Creeped me out to the point I could never believe anything he says. He says he was a Ohio State fan since he was 13. But, until about 2 years ago his handles were about UK and worse Ashland High School (Tomcat). Would not surprise me if he has been playing trivia at bdubs as a way to pick up younger guys. Courts will decide his fate soon enough. When it is all over, he would be wise to change his life style. Get away from everything he has been doing. Buzztime would be doing him a big favor by deleting his remaining accounts and banning him. But, when has Buzztime ever done the right thing. :P

"I didn't know Twitter was a social medium." Are you fucking kidding me? You can't turn on the television, or do anything these days without social media being discussed and Facebook and Twitter are mentioned as the two main social media sites and the same Buzztime Forums and Scaratings. You have got to be fucking kidding me... He knew exactly what he was doing violated his parole, that is why he had Trivia Guru on Facebook etc...

Just gets more bizarre as time goes on.

Wonder if the interviewer knew him already.

He "wanted to standout" among all the crazy OSU fans.

Certainly got his wish.

And what "trivia contests" were going on in Columbus?

Dude be delusional.

FWIW--his probation, according to the article, was almost up. Couldn't keep it together for five years.

I think Eric wanted to stand out, period. Either by being an over-the-top OSU fan, or by being the guy who had an incredible number of PP points by age 21. As the old adage warns, "Be careful what you wish for...you may get it." I agree, Fly, he certainly did get his wish. Eric "stood out."

Contrast Eric's situation with that of Steve Bartman. He was a rabid fan of the Cubs. Unlike Eric, Bartman had no sex offender label, and had no similar, self-glorifying "BdubsTriviaGuru" presentment. Bartman was just an ordinary guy, seemingly with no interest to "stand out."

Yet, within the blink of an eye's poor judgment, Bartman came to suffer an eternity of scorn. In Eric's case, the photo with the de-commited OSU recruit was snapped in a fraction of a second, much like the span of Bartman's indiscretion. However, the prelude to Eric's faux pas spanned many years.

While Eric had years to consider his action, Bartman did not. Yet in the greater scheme of things, it is Bartman that will always be the household name for a contemptible sport fan, while Eric, the "stand out" want-a-be, will be of relatively short-lived fame -- except of course in our BT confines, and in Buckeye Nation.

IMO, let suckeye nation remember him well; may the NTN BT nation forget him, the sooner, the better.

I agree let him be forgotten. Unfortunately I can't because of where I play and the lack of places. The fact that his names are presented before each game also sucks. There are some rumblings he may rest his case on being deprived his First Amendment. If he does lose the case it is thought through the appeals process he may find a judge at some point that agrees.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/judge-hears-fight-sex-offenders-facebook-ban-16466245
and Court tosses La. law banning sex offenders from Facebook and there was something in New York about sex offenders.

He can try, but the article I saw said that the successful appeals were by offenders who had completed their sentences, including probation.

I think he has a decent case on that. There are quite a few cases pending. I've been thinking about that for a few weeks and I'm not sure where I land on it, as it's incredibly complicated. I do envision Facebook ending up with a feature, though, where people under 18 can't see posts from or friend certain people.

I agree. He is a convicted felon serving time. In this case probation. He lost his rights when convicted. It is a different story after he has done his time and paid his debt. First Amendment rights are not going to help him with his parole violations. He failed to disclose to his parole officer his handles and internet activities. He knew exactly what he was doing. A few years ago his handles were Tomcat and Itiger. Both high school mascot names. One for Ashland High School and the other for Ironton High School. Guess he was just a big sports fan for those high schools too. I believe he was trolling bdubs looking to make "friends" with teenagers. Two years ago he changed from high schools to Ohio State.
I stopped believing anything this guys says. He knew what he was doing. Only an incrediblely stupid person would hang out in bdubs using high school handles in trivia after being convicted of having kiddie porn on their computer. Let's hope the court system looks past the First Amendment rights issue and focus on the real issues with this guy.

Interesting comparison. That said, I think Rosie Ruiz might make a better parallel.

RM, wouldn't Rosie be a better parallel to the BT cheaters vilified in other threads on this forum?

I was remarking on Eric's concerted effort to stand out and his resulting "success" as contrasted with poor Bartman who made no such effort, but who similarly became the object of fan contempt.

A few days back Alex Anzalone committed to Notre Dame. Our boy in Ashland better hope he stays in jail for a few years. I can see an angry OSU fan going after him. His court date was this morning. I wonder if they pushed it out or if he was smart enough to plead guilty again.

As easy as it would be to blame ERIC, he had NOTHING with this kid not going to Ohio State. Anzalone's dad didn't want him going there and made Eric his excuse. Every campus has an Eric walking around it trying to get their picture taken with players.

A real reason not to go to OSU is showing on ESPNU: 10-7 OSU vs. Wisconsin in the 3rd quarter...yawn.

Ok, then Eric should have no problem going to Columbus and hanging out on campus.
