Sports IQ ends September 3.

Buzztime effectively saying "Know a lot about sports trivia? Lol, too goddamn bad, you're gonna lose to the guy who watched Sportscenter 4 times last night!" Horrific.

I can't wait until they replace Playback with "Current Top 40 and Katy Perry" on Saturday nights!

You will have a definate advantage because I'm betting all questions come from Buzztime staff reading the sports section in the Sunday and Monday editions of the San Diego Union Tribune with a smattering of the Monday USA Today.

Nuts, they'll probably use North County Times and Orange County Register instead. :(

Too early to tell, how about unreleased songs that may become Top 40 hits...

Well my 4 favorite games are long gone (Jukebox, Sports Trivia Challenge, Abused News, Get Reel) but Sports IQ wasn't one of them. Used to like it, but it evolved into a game where 85% of questions geared towards fantasy league type players only..I don't see how The Pulse will be much different than the current game, other than the other 15%.

I think for a period of time it was that way, but the last several months it has been much different, and more all-encompassing. But even if the content is 85% the same between The Pulse and SIQ, it is still a massive downgrade, because SIQ is arguably the most unique game on the network. Every round is drastically different, and they each have very different types of choices/answers. Now we will be playing a full hour of Countdown questions/clues.

Disagree. I don't play fantasy sports and found a way to do OK occasionally.

Besides, let's assume some savant knows every piece of sports info from 2012 and nothing else. He would never miss a question in The Pulse, and would never break 100 in SIQ.

BT is once against replacing steak and lobster with a happy meal.

Okay, I was exaggerating about the fantasy league thing. I still think the game evolved too much towards current athletes and what year something happened. Well written game, just that I won't miss it...Hell, I've said it before, I'd be happy if they would just ask one sports question a game in Countdown (to replace a river or food question :))

This is what BT posted on their FB page in the extended negative feedback it's receiving re: the loss of SIQ/replacement with "The Pulse."

"We get a lot of requests to have more current content (rather than historical), and so we will be focusing this sports content on the sporting events that took place in the prior week/s."

I am really getting tired of the vague references to "requests" that are made, but when BT is asked to identify those making the requests (or why it even thinks requests exist), the response is silence. Perhaps the ones making the requests were the question writers, who as it has been pointed out in other posts, will have a much easier time mining stats from the newspaper than having to construct a proper question that requires knowledge and understanding of the subject matter--including what will be memorable for more than a day or a week.

Still waiting for all those in the West zone who allegedly requested later start times on the premium games to start playing them in those later slots.

I for admit that I would prefer more recent sports knowledge, and further admit it's because my "old sports knowledge" is almost entirely non-existent. That said, I've never requested it, nor do I wish they'd take a whole game away from people who know way more than I do. :D

Based on what I've seen these past few months for Lunchtime Trivia and Countdown (and a few of The Late Shift), the number of sports questions is less than 1% (about one every six or seven Countdown games).

I know it wasn't popular with people here, but Badge Hunter usually had 3 - 4 sports questions, and they weren't "gimmes." I liked them because someone with deep sports knowledge would know them, but someone else could reason their way through if they had deep knowledge in, say, history. I really liked the way they did those. Wish they'd make Countdown more like that game.

Maybe the 12 year olds are asking, "Who is this Hank Aaron guy?"

Or better yet, keep the river question and get rid of one of the 5 music questions they have a game.

Hank Aaron? Sounds like they don't even want questions with Barry Bonds in it. I think Chipper Jones questions will be a thing of the past in a couple of weeks.

Looking at http://www.buzztime.com/players link right now (when not logged in) and this is what I see on the schedule. Oh well, wishful thinking.

Today's USA Premium Schedule
Day Game Pacific Mountain Central Eastern
Monday Sports IQ 7:00pm 8:00pm 7:00pm 8:00pm

(The regular schedule link http://www.buzztime.com/schedule still has Pulse today but I gotta think this page is going to throw people off)
