FWIW, it was Breeders Classic. Played for the first time on a non "Smartest Bar" night. Was playing as FLILJL ( I refuse to as SAKIC), and this question definitely got rid of my disdain for the game for the moment- inspiring me to try and make national board. Then our young nubile barmaid turned two (in ten minute span) spitting bar kegs into her own personal wet t shirt contest. Game over! :o

Heh, looks like FLILJL did just a lil better than a couple of weeks ago during The Season. Image Image

Played The Pulse for the first time today.
As anticipated, loved the format.
Hated the content.

Yawn...

Yet to play...and don't see that changing anytime soon. If RaceDay goes away, there really won't be a reason for me to go play Buzztime anymore.

For the six people out there that are interested in this game, the rankings started showing correctly on Monday.

Congratulations to the 86th Street Pub gang for their #1 Bar Ranking. Ken (Kendo) made it safely to Boca Raton for Thanksgiving so Arthur and I decided to meet at Applebee's Apalachee Parkway location in Tallahassee, FL instead of Hooter's and found a much quieter venue and better food for the money.
Like Avis we that rank #2 will keep trying harder. Arthur, our resident Canadian, was forewarned by me about the Grey Cup matchup this Sunday between Toronto and Calgary in Toronto.

The NY Giants were thrashing the Green Bay Packers by halftime Sunday night so by 9:30 EST I ventured to NBCSP (Used to be Versus) to check out the Grey Cup figuring there would be a question about the game tonight. (There was). I thought it amusing when the announcers said, "Toronto holds Calgary to another 2 and out". (I keep forgetting there's only 3 downs to make 10 yards in the CFL instead of the 4 downs to make 10 yards in the NFL.)

I played The Pulse (or most of the game anyway) last night for the first time and enjoyed it.

Probably because I hadn't played a sports game in while (except The Season with it's ATL issues) but still I thought it wasn't bad.

@SCAR, it isn't a horrible game, but it is not a sports trivia game. It is a fluff game.

Understood, still the other fellas sitting at the bar (waiting for MNF) actually paid attention to it, which is more than they do for general trivia.

Has Mondays always been this hurting for a good line-up? Like it or hate it, it's the ONLY game that day. Why? o.O'

Now that QB1 is done...has the number of players dropped for this game? For those that are still playing, have they changed it any or is it still basically a CD game that focuses on the last week in sports (I'm assuming it hasn't changed)?

The 3/5 game had at least 10 hockey questions, (All these teams play in the Pacific Division except <Vancouver plays in the Northwest> Slapshot is the mascot of <Capitals> Which goalie has over 300 wins <Kiprusoff> The Staal Brothers play for <Hurricanes>) Other questions were Darian Grubb is the crew chief of (Denny Hamlin). Who is the coach of the Washington Wizards? (Randy Wittman) James Harden wears uniform (13). It wasn't until question 20 that we got an actual who won this sporting event type question (Matt Kuchar won the recent Match Play event). It seems the emphasis on recent news has been reduced in favor of more Sports IQ like Coin Toss Round questions. We at Hooter's of Tallahassee, FL., were very happy to be #2 Monday night especially since Arthur won individually and I didn't have a flat tire going home. (Private joke)

Glad to see the format is changing a little. Still not enough to get me out to play it though. I'm sure STATS and HUTCH feel the same way...but they can weigh in on it. Congrats on Arthur's win and your #2 showing. Always glad to hear no flat tire on the way home!! :D

If this game is going to be a hockey game it gives me even less reason to give a shit.

P.S. Buzztime you are still a bunch of dumbshits.

I have not played the Pulse since it started; I've watched a couple of games and have seen the format and the types of questions asked. But I have not played it as a form of protest.

However, if Pulse were to have mostly questions about hockey and/or soccer, I would probably start to play. :)

I haven't played the game yet either (protest). There is Cross Checked on Saturday nights if you are out and about...two 10 question, 15 minute games. :D Of course...since BT got rid of RaceDay and The Season is over...I'm not out on Saturdays anymore...

Dragged my grumpy ol' cynical carcass out of the house last night to play the Swim, Bike, Run TOPIX game thus had a nice little half hour of sports trivia again. Felt good. Nailed all the running and biking questions but missed every single one of the swimming questions which I found interesting. Just over 11K though so not bad (27th nationally). Still will avoid "No Pulse Detected" as a personal protest unless or until the content shows additonal and permanent change.

As an aside, played SIX last night for the first time in many months. Never realized that there is much of a "rustiness" factor with some of the different formats for premium games, but I felt totally out of sync trying to do the matching rounds and totally screwed up the wagering for the last 6 questions. Didnt seem to be that much more difficult game that I recall from last few times I played but was about 8000 points below my old average.

Lets see what I can recall:
- First male to swim the English Channel
- A Dawn Fraser question which I got wrong as I thought she was 70's instead of 60's.
- Question regarding handhold for a specific swim even starting position which I completely mis-read and misunderstood. The answer was backstroke.
- Distance of swim event in Ironman Triathlon. I guess I didnt get all the swim ones wrong as I did nail that one (2.4)

Cant recall any of teh other swim questions, There may have been one more.

Ah, thanks. I was a backstroker.

Congratulations to CSHMNY for the #1 individual The Pulse ranking on 3/12.

This week was a much more balanced game evenly distributed among the sports and a good mix of STC Round One current events questions and Sports IQ Coin Toss Round type questions.

Joey Altidore is his name and (Soccer) is his game. Manchester United was beaten by (Real Madrid). Wil Myers now plays for (Tampa Bay). A brawl broke out between Mexico and (Canada) in the WBC. Manny Ramirez has signed to play in (Taiwan). Conway, S.C. was the sight of the (Big South) tournament. Otto Porter stars for (Georgetown). Jack Crews is the coach for (St. Louis Billikens). Phoenix plays in the (Pacific) Division. Chicago finally lost a game to (Colorado). Stacy Lewis won the HSBC LPGA tournament played in (Singapore). A Kentucky Derby warm-up race was won over the weekend by (Verrazano).

These are the questions that come to the forefront. Amazing I'm playing at Hooter's in Tallahassee, FL., and thinking of the cashier who cashed me out after my cardiologist appointment. Things are under control after a recently discovered case of undiagnosed sleep apnea.
