Do you mean apart from them both being silent pictures being remade into sound versions? If so, which version of these films are we comparing?

You know I like to bring it old school.
The originals, of course.

Forgive me, I should have known.

I'm going to guess that both movies have a character named "Chico."

Do they both have a Chico?
Regardless, I'm sure that other films have a Chico somewhere and I did ask what was unique about these two films. I'm tricky that way.
I'm sure the googlers have something to say by now.

I don't know. I knew that 7th Heaven does, and that you liked Leonard Marx, so threw out a guess.

Since no one else has Googled it by now, and to keep things moving, I did. They both have the distinction of being the losing nominees in the Academy's first Best ("Outstanding") Picture award. Should have figured that out on my own...

Keeping with the same general theme, what is true about "The Way of All Flesh" (1927) alone among all Academy-Award-winning films?

Thought someone might have Googled this by now. If there are no guesses in the next 24 hours I guess we'll count it as a lost question.

Google shmoogle...
When I first saw this question a few days ago I assumed you were asking about Emil Jannings winning an Oscar for this movie and the film subsequently being "lost", making it the only "lost" Oscar-winning performance.
I didn't really want this to devolve into a game of trivia ping pong but since no one else appears to know their film history (and shame on you if you don't... tsk tsk...) I'll take up the mantle, assuming my answer is what you were looking for.

Those who do not know television history are doomed to repeats...

While waiting to begin programming on their new sci-fi channel a South Carolina station used a camera on a steady shot simply to fill air time. When they actually began programming there were numerous complaints about the switch; so many, in fact, that they started a second channel to bring back the fixed shot. What airtime-filling scene's temporary cancellation caused such an uproar?

I doubt this is right, but I've got to try: Yule Log?

Either that or a fish tank.

Yep, good enough. It was actually called an "armonica".
There was speculation for a long time that those who played it went mad due to lead poisoning from the early versions having used leaded glass. This has since been discounted. Here is an example of it's sound... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQemvyyJ--g

Rock & roll, ANON. You're up!

What distinction do George Clinton and John Calhoun alone share?

They both put out a killer rendition of "Give Up the Funk"... http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=gjKFCYzqq-A
(I'll bet you didn't know John Calhoun was a member of 'Parliament') Image

Ahh, but I think Bootsie was in on that rendition, too. ;-). Try again.

Only U.S. Vice Presidents to serve under two Presidents.

What is the last city that is not currently a U.S.state capital to have served in that capacity in the past?

Without doing research I say it is a city in Alaska but not Anchorage

I know there was a proposal to move their capital to Willow, north of Anchorage, but that did not pass. Therefore the Alaskan capital, since statehood, has always been Juneau.

Vandalia used to be the capital of Illinois before Springfield, but I don't know if it's the last such city in the USA.

It's not.

I'll hazard a guess on Wichita (but for all I know, Topeka has probably been the capital since 1861)
