I'll hazard a guess on Wichita (but for all I know, Topeka has probably been the capital since 1861)

It's not Wichita, and Topeka has been Kansas' only state capital.

No, that was a territorial capital, which doesn't count, and it was too early.

Prescott was also a territorial, not a state capital.

So far, Noles' answer is the one that I judge to be the best as his answer is the only one that mentioned a former state capital. I'll give it a few more hours, and then if nobody comes up with a better answer, Noles will ask the next question.

If the answer is what I think it is, it's just a near impossible tidbit unless you've been through or live around the area seeing how it's a city that almost nobody has heard of. It is an interesting question however.

Or I'm completely off in which case nothing happened here.

The answer I have is Guthrie, Oklahoma, which was the capital of that state for three years after Oklahoma achieved statehood in 1907. So unless there is a former state capital from after 1910, that is the answer. I got my answer from this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_capitals_in_the_United_States#Historical_state_capitals

Since Noles has the only response that is an actual former state capital, and since more than 48 hours has passed on this question, I pass the torch to him.

i guess the question must've been a bit too easy. Nicely done.

Put an "i" in front of these and you get Apple products in chronological order of release (iBook, iPod, iPhone, and iPad).

Apologies for the delay, I've been 'in transit'.

During the first half the twentieth century, what major port was the only port in the world to accept Jews fleeing the Nazi oppression without an entry visa?

My first guess will be Shanghai.

Who did Walter Alston substitute for in his only Major League game? (He struck out in his only time at bat.)

I don't normally like to tell a farmer how to plant his peas, but you should have also asked the name of the pitcher that punched his ticket.
I'm fairly certain his inclusion is tough but doable for the real baseball cognoscenti out there.

Spotes, you can ask your trivia questions and I will ask mine. You should have sent me a PM for the above comment.

Walter Alston, by the way, was born on this date in 1911, which is why I am asking a baseball trivia question in December.

A hint. The person that Alston subbed for is in the Hall of Fame. (Alston substituted for him after the other player got ejected.)

I'll give another hint tomorrow afternoon if necessary.

It has to be one of two, and I'm going to guess Dizzy Dean.

(I'm saving my second guess, just in case Dizzy Dean ain't right.)

Don't have any fun trying to expand your questions in interesting topics in the future without your seal of approval. Got it.

I don't think I cheated trying to come up with the answer, which I did not know. (I should add that I got in late on the question.) At first I Googled Walter Alston to see what team he played for and what year. It was the St. Louis Cardinals in 1936. Then I Googled the St. Louis Cardinals team roster for 1936, and looked for Hall of Famers. There were just two, Dizzy Dean and Johnny Mize. The most likely one would have been the pitcher, Dizzy Dean, which was my first guess. However, it turned out to be the slugger, Johnny Mize.

ZOG, I've got to ask you, why in the world would St. Louis send Walter Alston to the plate to pinch hit for future Hall of famer, slugger, Johnny Mize? :?

I'm not going to be able to come up with one of my easy trivia questions tonight, because it's too late. However, good Lord willing, I'll have one for you guys tomorrow. :D
