This is an ornery little poser, zog.
My gave my brain's subroutines a full hour on this and they have assured me that the relationship of these numbers is not mathematical.
Can I assume therefore that these are assigned values for some collection or variety of related things?

This question is a two-parter.

Of the astronauts who have set foot on the Moon, which one has spent the most total time in space, and which one has spent the least time in space? ("Time in space" is not limited to lunar missions.)

I threw this question out a few hours ago as nobody attempted an answer. Alan Bean spent over 69 days in space in all missions, while Neil Armstrong spent just eight days in space on just two missions, the second of them Apollo 11. Bean also flew two missions - Apollo 12 and Skylab 3, the latter one for 58 days.

Today's date is a clue.

Another clue. There are four numbers left in the series, and it is an ascending series of integers.

The time limit on the above is 24 hours, and the closest answer gets to ask the next question at this time tomorrow even if there are no correct answers.

-- RWM

The other numbers that completed the series were 68, 92, 93, and 125. These were the opus numbers of the nine Beethoven symphonies.

Mudee's guess of 83 is closer to three of the opus numbers than MiniYoda's guess of 82. Therefore, mudee can ask the next question.

This Canadian born singer/song writer had a 1982 Rock and Roll hit (but not a number 1) that technically made him a one hit wonder, although he did have a few other songs that charted below the top 50 mark. He has since written hits for such people as Blue Oyster Cult, Jon Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, and Clay Aiken.

Beer is usually never a wrong answer, but not the one I am looking for.

It is also not Bruce Cockburn.

Love me some good music trivia. Didn't use the internet on this guess. How about Aldo Nova?

Been working on the wording of this question, trying to make it not confusing. Here goes.

Recently, I listened to an episode of a Jack Benny radio show from the late 40's, when he mentioned the name of an actor, and I had to do some research because the name sounded VERY familiar. Turns out, Jack Benny used this name several times to reference a fictional Country/Western actor in some of his skits. At the time, an actor by this name did not exist, and no one ever portrayed this fictional character on his show.

A real person heard the sketches, and decided to change his real name to this fictional character's name. Must have helped, becuase he went on to a very successful comedy and acting career. Who is this person?

I'll submit another clue late Friday if no one has it by then. Feel free to post or PM me questions.

Edit....fixed a spelling mistake

Just taking a stab here, John Wayne? I know he changed his name from Marion Morrison.

Is it safe to assume that this successful comedian/actor played mostly western roles?

If so, my first guess is Slim Pickens.

The successful actor did not play ANY country western roles. He was strictly stand up comedy and comedy movies

Rodney Dangerfield it is

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodney_Dangerfield

He took the name Rodney Dangerfield, which had been used as the comical name of a faux cowboy star by Jack Benny on his radio program at least as early as the December 21, 1941, broadcast and later as a pseudonym by Ricky Nelson on the TV program The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. The Benny character, who also received little or no respect from the outside world, served as a great inspiration to Dangerfield while he was developing his own comedy character. The "Biography" program also tells of the time Benny visited Dangerfield backstage after one of his performances. During this visit Benny complimented him on developing such a wonderful comedy character and style. However, Jack Roy remained Dangerfield's legal name, as he mentioned in several interviews. During a question-and-answer session with the audience on the album No Respect, Dangerfield joked that his real name was Percival Sweetwater.

Cloudy, you are next. And PLEASE no Rome New York questions.

Yoda, great trivia question. I might have figured out the answer in a week or two without the clue you gave us. However, that clue made it pretty easy to get the answer.

It's too late for me tonight to dream up a trivia question, but good Lord willing I hope to have one for you guys tomorrow.

p.s. Don't worry, it won't be a Rome, NY, question this time, but I'm leaving the door open for the future.

In all of Arthur Conan Doyle's 56 short stories and 4 novels about Sherlock Holmes there are only three brothers, who have the same first and last names. (No silliness here. They were actual brothers, according to Doyle.)

Who are they...?

(Good luck. Any Sherlockian will know the answer in a heartbeat.)

p.s. My investiture in the "Silver Blazers" scion of the "Baker Street Irregulars" is Hall Pycroft. (This has nothing to do with my question. I thought I would just toss it in.) :D

It looks like you guys and gals need a hint. So I will give you a big one.

The three brothers first name was James.

p.s. If there are any Sherlockians out there, who are monitoring this thread, I would expect one of you will have the answer before the sun rises in the morning. If not, I will give you all another clue tomorrow. :D

Okay, time for a visual clue...

His first name is James, and he is the big one of the three brothers. (There are no pictures of his two brothers, also named James, that I am aware of.) Here it is:

Image

Holmes describes him as "the Napoleon of Crime".

p.s. After this clue, I doubt anyone will need any more clues.
