Glad I never played the old version... can't miss what you don't know.

I really don't have a problem leaving 6k at the end. Can't tell you how many times I would flub a "strong" category but still get the arts. I'm much better guessing in a weak category than a strong one that stumps me, it seems :p

Been on the road for a week, but I had my best game last week (not highest score though). 43,309 but I didn't get the bonus points for Marathon or Final Six. If 50k is a decent solo score, then so is 44k without those bonuses, right?

I was actually in 1st place going into the final question, but was probably 5th down on the screen for the round. The final 6k on arts really gave me a jump at the last second to trounce everyone above me. Last second surges = pizzazz. 8-)

The curse continues. 29,8 going into the final. Counting the bonus, fumbled 11,000 points in the first two questions. Did well enough in the rest of the final to land 42,6.

*bewails his fate*

One day.

Last three weeks of play (out of the last four....took a week off to recover) have been awful.

Tonight went into final with 25 k....probably got around 10k points in the final round. I've been doing so badly it is getting me down. My score in Lexitopia tonight should be bringing my average down but sadly it will improve it. Just been a very bad few weeks.

Curse continues.... dropped over 9000 points across the last two questions in Six tonight...ended up with 39,300. Worse still the curse is seeping into Lexitopia....got 4700 points the first round but couldn't hit 5000 for the game. Cringeworthy.

Hey y'all, been a while. A lot of either the same or skipping out on trivia since my last post. In a trivia rut.

Got 48k last week.... dropped the 2000 bonus in the marathon round by one question.

Getting close. :P

My quest to get a decent score (50k) continues.

My quest to get a decent score (50k) continues.

I also missed one question in the Marathon Round last Thursday, but then had a nearly perfect Final Round, only bleeding about half of my points on the Shows question, which was my 1000 category. Finished with 52K, not bad for a solo game. :)

Kudos on the score! Yeah I got like 24k from the final round... the problem was I had a very bad matching round. I used to always have a very bad matching round then they got somewhat better; this reminded me of my first times playing. My range for going into the final is 24 - 30. Typically the issue is just blowing the final but this time it was going in a bit lower than I like.

Stumbled a bit and went into the final with 24,000 points. 50,000 was not going to happen, though I was actually on track to hit 48,000 again until the last question. I did manage to swing about 1,000 of the 6,000 wagered, saving the bonus. Time to read Animal Farm, I suppose.

Pastimes went better than usual for me, though Lexitopia was pretty bad. 5000 after 5 questions then couldn't even finish with 7500.

That said, I did accomplish part of my goal tonight: to fill the Six leader board with all 40,000+ and Lexitopia with all 7000+. After that I will obsess over raising the scores even more. :P

Not real well, as my mind didn't seem into it. (I am recovering from a cold, so that may have been part of it.) In Six I had 41K, although I did have 9300 in Pastimes in what was an easy game. Then I had an awful game on Lexitopia.

Will likely play again tonight, but it will be on a small team, not solo.

I have been eyeing Thursdays hard. I play Sci-Files to Lexitopia to have a solid two hours of trivia....but in truth I just tolerate Sci-Files. I am not good at it. Haven't read anything they ask about, only seen a few series really. As obscure as I get was having seen Earth 2 haha.... In short, I am way out of my element when I play it and can only land 7-9k on a good night. Wish Wednesdays still had Speed Freaks. Ask it Already also looks fun to play... Too bad I hate Playback. Tuned In through Topix looks like a more solid two hour block. I would miss all the 70s and 80s TV show questions though.

Epic score in Pastimes o.o *bows*

Went into Final Six at 24K, meaning 50K would be impossible. Dropping the bonus in Marathon put me out of the realm of impossibility. No big deal, as my other goal for Six is filling up the local HST with 40K+ scores.

Things were going pretty well, dropped fewer than 100 points on my first wager (which was 4000). It's always fun to see people temporarily ahead of you and knowing they dropped 1K+ of 6K while you have not yet begun to fight....

Then I got 3/3k..... missed quite a bit on the 2K but preserved the bonus. Then I fell through a hole in the ice and lost 9000 points on the history question. Ow. Got at least a little on my 1K and then ended with 6k/6k.

38K, pretty bad really but then again these things could go a lot worse than missing one question in the final.

Pastimes was a very close fight: trailed from at least the 4th or 3rd question til the final question, and ended up ahead by a whopping 9 points. :)

Got my comeuppance for that win though, as that person bested me in Lexitopia by a couple hundred points. Kobold was more or less the deciding factor in that game.

Still an okay night, close to 40K in Six and over 7K in both of the games that followed.

The curse continues, and in the very worst way. I expect to be committed soon.

49,530 points. 470 shy of my goal of finally hitting 50,000 points in Six.

I could have made that up in any number of places.... one matching question I repeated two answers when I didn't need to, sealing in 750 points and not 1500. Actually I missed a LOT more than usual in the Marathon round.... and of course I did only get 22,3 in the final round. Not too mad though, as I got the rush of entering the final round with enough points for the 50k threshold and kicking a fair amount of ass. Nothing tops punching in 10,000 points on the last question of the game.

The whole night was kind of interesting, weird ups and downs but it still feels like a victorious night even with the bad moments. 8k after two rounds of Sci-Files, which was good. Then I ran into my magical bad final round for these smaller games and ended with only 10k. Still a good score for me so no big deal.

Got 7K in Pastimes which is standard.... then RIGHT before Lexitopia.... nature called. No details needed past that but it prevented me from playing the first round. I'll never know it would have been a bad or good game. :P

All in all a pretty good night.

But that 50K....not sure it's something that exists. >.>

It does exist. You can do it. Keep your confidence up. It will happen.

Came close yet again.... got 47k or so by the end of the game, missing the final sports question completely. Getting even one point on it would have left me with at least 51K. I am not mad though, max points on all the other questions in the final (20k flat in the final round). I missed a bit the first round, about 800.... and the 2000 bonus on Marathon Six. Not sure if those would have put me over or not.

The other games tonight...let's not talk of those... :P

My best screw up in a long while happened tonight, so I figured I would revive the thread for the sake of my fans (estimated number: 0-1 people).

For those who don't know, I consider 24-30K my "normal" range heading into the final round of Six. Truthfully, it's been on the lower side of that for quite some time but getting 27K+ is not rare enough to make a big deal out of. The biggest culprit when it comes to my score is matching round, the round I consider my worst (even if my final is always rocky).

It generally goes like this: 1-2k in the first round (some Easy questions aren't really like the others, back off :P), ~13k for matching and then ~13-16k for marathon (which I like to consider my best round, frankly). Often I go lower than 13k in matching, as happened tonight.

Only having around 10k in matching, I went into Marathon with 12,xxx points. 25-27k or so was basically expected after Marathon at this point.

But I actually knocked Marathon Six out of the park tonight. Not sure what the maximum point value is, but I ended up with 19,xxx for the round alone. When the dust settled, I was sitting on top of 32k with the final looming into view.

Now I don't even think 32k is my maximum ever.... that might be 34k or so. Even so, this is the very best score I have had going into Six in a very long time. Normally I skate the line of being able or unable to make 50k total (my goal of course) depending on a near-perfect final. So I knew my chances were good of having a good game. If not the elusive 50k, then another 40K+ to slap on the local leaderboard.

I bet 4k on the opening question, and blew it all. As I was losing those points, I cobbled together quatro and diem and realized the q.i.d. was a shamefully easy question. Woops...

I made a modest comeback from that stumble (17k was left after that, knocking me out of 50k range right on the first question) but messed up the last two questions. I ended with 43k. A sad ending for a game with such potential, but these things happen.

My apologies if this is old news to you, but the reason they are called Easy is because there's almost always (with maybe one exception every month or two) some word or two in the phrasing of the question meant to give away the answer to those who don't know it anyway. As in: "Mark Pryor must have liked palindromes when he was first elected to the Senate in this year." You don't have to know anything about the answer to look at four numbers and choose 2002.

Yeah I am aware of that. But I wouldn't say 1/24 are the other kind of question, I'd say it's more like 3 or 4/24.

Nothing too special, but a fairly close game tonight. 44k and some change, and I missed a shade over 5k in the final and the 2k marathon bonus. Then little things like hundreds of points here and there during marathon. Definitely had a shot at it tonight, just didn't pan out.

One of my top five failures tonight. After matching was over, I noticed I had a bit higher than usual at that point. Furthermore, I knew my Marathon average pointed to entering the final with thirty k, a good score for trying to get 40-50k+ overall.

Well, I was about 5k off my mark in Marathon, and went into final with 25k. That is within my range, and let me have the chance to land 50k or at least something fairly high.

Three questions into final, I was 9k/9k wagered. Hey hey, this is looking good. The next two questions went well... got a lot on the history question and nabbed SOME points in my 1k Sports wager. In short, I had a bit over 14k with one question to go. 39k, with 10k on the line. 6K wager plus the overall bonus. So while I knew 50k was out of the question, I knew I could get my highest score in about a year.

I do not have a penchant for Pynchon, you could say. Totally out of my element, I took my best guess. The first answer to drop was removed. Whew, so far so good. Then the next...wasn't mine. As the timer counted down it was clear I would end the game with 39k or 49k. While exciting at the time, it deflates the hell out of you if it doesn't work out... which of course it did not this time.

Depressingly, I left the game with a measly 39k, my lowest score in a while. A few weeks ago I got lower, but this was my second lowest score in a two month period. Which is sad since I was on the cusp of glory here. Likely my best game in months and it looks like one of my worst.

On the plus side, all of my games before Sept. 17th were all sorts of awful and all games since then have been decidedly better, if off the mark.

I did come out of the affair with a new mortal enemy:

Ended just below 40k after embarrassingly missing the history question in final six. Basic question and I missed it. Was looking at a 44-48k game after entering final with a score that was lower than normal.

Tuned In and Immortal Words were decent games, as was Topix. I would have had 12,700 in Topix if it weren't for the last question. Ended just under twelve. Cracked the local HST for each game I played tonight..which isn't too impressive with the current numbers but it feels good regardless.
