I think it must have something to do with the migration habits of the common fruit fly.

To elaborate,

If you are going east west and the lane is there, you are on H1. If not then H3
If you are going north south and the lane is there, you are on H2. If not then H3

Sure.

Better answer than most so far. Surprisingly wrong though.

No. And it has nothing to do with Greg Brady and tikis either.

Does it have anything to do with the ludicrous notion of Hawaii having "interstate" highways in the first place?
I don't like it. It makes me question my place in the universe.

This is my best guess, and I'm really reaching, here

Rotate the numerals 90 degrees counterclockwise. Now, the long, straight portion of 1 runs east-west, the straight bar of 2 runs north-south, and the 3 forms two tunnels, but its lack of a straight segment equates to no HOV . . . yeah, this idea isn't even halfway baked

GIMPY thinks it's something to do with quantum tunneling. She's probably closer to the answer

No, nothing technical or the like involved. And don't question your place in the universe, your place in the universe is to take umbrage to questions such as these posing as trivia.

Hmmm... that answer isn't anywhere close to baked, but I'm wondering if just the opposite is true of it's creator. :D :D :D

But I'm also thinking that once I reveal the answer you'll think I've done way too many drugs over the years.

Nope. And believe me, there are enough wild chickens in Hawaii that it's no big deal if a few fail to make it.

Bo,

With all due respect, Sir, to your contribution to Scar's site, I must declare your question null and void.

As stated previously, this is a trivia thread, and as you stated, this is not a trivia question.

While very interesting, and you have caused a lot of research and learning on the geography and highway system of Hawaii, I have to state that since your question did not have a trivia answer, the chain is broken. Please feel free to post your answer, as I'm sure it is well thought and interesting, and many of us (me included) await your answer.

As originator of the thread, I will start the chain again with a new question. Please keep this thread to trivia questions only.

Speed question, feel free to look up the answer if you have to do so, else think it over.

What country has an AK-47 on its flag?

Bull fucking shit you motherfucking crybaby. There have been a shitload of asinine questions over the years here as you fucksticks couldn't even follow your own rules and nobody said a fucking word. Now you just shut the fuck up and let my question run it's course. I already stated I'd answer it after 48 hours so just get your panties out of your pussy.

Besides, if you want to fuck with me I can single-handedly ruin this thread by answering every single question by hook or by crook and then asking whatever the hell I want to. You don't want that. The only reason I answered LILJOL's question in the first place was because I was actually at the game he was asking about.

You'd better step away and step away quick.

Hell, how many times here has it taken days and days for a new question to be posted? Was it a big deal? No. Eventually a new question was posed. But now just because you don't like a certain question that will be on the table for a maximum of 48 hours you unilaterally declare it null and void and instantly post a new one? This was supposed to be funny, something for people to get a kick out of and perhaps stretch their minds.

Oh, and the answer to your question is Mozambique. I now have the ball, not that I didn't anyway.

First, I would like to state that I am impressed that not only did you know the answer to LILJOL's question, but you actually were then when it happened. I personally have been to two NFL games, none of which are worth mentioning. You having been to a Superbowl, and one with a trivia question behind it, earns my respect (for what that is worth).

I do feel that it is unfortunate that you should use such language. I try to keep my posts as polite as possible, and did try to honor your question. As stated previously, it did make me look up several things about Hawaii, including the geography and the road systems.

However, and as you stated in your post, it wasn't a trivia question. I was hoping to keep this thread for trivia questions. The whole point of Scar's site is not only for Buzztime/NTN, but (my personal opinion) for trivia as a whole. Your question was intersting, but did not have a trivia basis to it.

Please feel free to send personal negative statements directly toward me via PM. I don't think you would want to use negative language on posts that all can see. I will accept all messages that you wish to sent directly to me via personal message and will not submit them to the admins of this board.

And yes, the answer to my question is indeed Mozambique. Please feel free to post the next *trivia* question.

It is unfortunate that I used such language, that happens when one gets extremely peeved. If others reading are offended by such language then I do apologize, however I stand by what was said.

You declared my question null and void publicly, I replied publicly, an eye for an eye as it were. Had you PM'd me regarding your feelings for my question we would have had a discussion free from expletives, but obviously that did not happen. Now, if the admins decide to punish me for such language I will accept that.

Now, since I "officially" have the right to ask a "trivia" question, I will do so. However I probably won't have a proper one ready until after Showdown tonight. Funny, that just happens to be about the same time I said I would give the answer to my previous question. Wow, kind of neat how that works out.

Hey, at least this question has generated some guesses and interest. Many questions asked in this thread didn't even garner a guess for various reasons. So while it's not the best question in the thread, it's certainly not the worst.

So why does the H3 not have an HOV lane? (I figured out why this is after tooling around the island one afternoon)

OK, new question, sticking with the Hawaii theme.

Name two major theatrical releases since 2000 that were set and filmed on the North Shore of Oahu.

I can think of three, one of which was a box office flop although it had a top notch cast, the other two grossed at least $50 million apiece. Obviously there could be movies I am unaware of so I may have to double-check unexpected answers. And we're not talking documentaries or anything here, standard Hollywood pictures.

Seriously? That was it? That type of joke has been around ever since the Deck Park Tunnel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papago_Freeway_Tunnel) was built on the I-10 in Phoenix, probably before (What is it called when you fear driving in the HOV lane while driving in the Deck Park Tunnel?). About 1990.
Is this obscure? Yes. So was your non-trivia question in a trivia thread.

And yet not one person was even close. I said from the beginning it was silly. Yet almost every single guess was serious, was almost like nobody knew how to actually read what I wrote.

And you know what? There have been some tremendously asinine questions all through this thread, I mean some really stupid shit. And since it's one of the very few people that actually live and die by this thread, people don't say a word. But when an "outsider" posts a silly question, people protest and try to get them to "play right". Which is a really funny statement considering the amount of googling that goes on in a lame attempt to answer lame questions.

Hell, I thought since all some of you want to do on this site is post stupid shit in various threads that have absolutely nothing to do with BT, that this question would fit right in. But apparently not. Apparently most here have no sense of humor whatsoever, is there any wonder why I have no urge to attend gatherings? Why the fuck would I want to socialize with people like this? Although it should be an excellent indicator why trivia sites in Louisville keep dropping the system.

But anyway, there is a new question on the table. I really hope it is acceptable to all the insiders here, otherwise I'll probably lose sleep over it.
