June 3 - Zoology
June 4 - Beach Bunnies
June 10 - Maritime Provinces
June 11 - Cowboy Good Guys
June 17 - Famous Fathers
June 18 - TV Dads
June 24 - Family Game Night
June 25 - Movie Grads

I see that they are doing the traditional annual Canadian geography game this month. I perfect opportunity to show how little I know.

I would have interest in June 3rd as well.

I have no idea about June 24th game. unless it is about Monopoly and other similar games? is this a tie-in with a promotion I don't know about?

Beaches have rabbits?

Personally, I'm up for the the four games at the second half of the month. Maybe a question or two on Zoology and Cowboy Good Guys. Don't know anything abour Maritime Provinces or costal rabbits.

First two Thursdays are OK but I predict huge pop culture content in the third and pointlessness in the fourth. The Fridays of course always are wasted on me so no comments there,

Nuts. You specified Pamela. Image

And, IIRC the Carmen Electra question was not on "Baywatch". Image

I'm going to make sure to show up for this game. I hope it is as challenging as the recent Mexico game.

A top 20 score may not that easy especially if Falcon is able to play..and if any of the 8 BT sites within this region noticed the topic and show up en masse.

I wouldn't worry about players from the Maritimes. The two new NB sites have not yet showed up, and none of the NS ones promote the games even to the extent of a sign in the restaurant letting patrons know they have them in the bar! Bridgewater's BP no longer has the system, and New Minas cancelled its at the end of May. Although they are still connected, the manager will not allow the staff to put the NTN channels on because it would be advertising that it is still available! Perhaps he's worried that there will be too much demand for it? Anyway, I have to decide if it's worth the 3.5-hr. round trip to go in to Lower Sackville for that game, as I have done for Showdown the past two weeks. I'd probably bomb on any pop culture questions anyway!

It's great to see this topic, but too late for most of the sites here.

Well, I'm not surprised to see Falcon's >14K on Maritime Provinces. Congratulations to him, and, really, to anyone else who cracked 14K.

But this had to be one of the tougher games, based on the top 20 bar averages as I saw them.

Thanks, and I agree that it was a difficult one for anyone not from here. I would say that anyone breaking 11 000 did well. Congratulations to Tgasm of Blinco's in Raleigh, NC, for the top individual score and the only one outside our bar over 13 000. He or she must be a displaced Maritimer, but fortunately for our bar ranking, was apparently not sharing with others there. Sadly, I was probably the only person in the Maritimes playing and I had to ask them to put Buzztime on when I arrived. Another great chance for local promotion missed. On a brighter note, one of the locals did show some interest and stayed to play Six - potentially a regular.

congrats to you Falcon for your score

I was really pleased with my score after 7 questions but then the ruination began: I forgot about the oars on the New Brunswick flag, made a mistake about Shelbourne's claim to fame (No, I don't know why I picked quilts), which bay was not in PEI and went with coal instead of gypsum.

I was pretty consistently on a 12K pace the whole game. I bled about 300 points on the Shelburne, NS question before jumping to the right answer. I blew two of the PEI questions, one of them the name of their current premier. The other was one where I selected "tulips" when the answer was shellfish. Also went with "coal" instead of gypsum. And yet my score was the second-highest among US players, so I really can't complain.

Not to say it wasn't difficult, but I scored 11,600 having known nothing about the Maritimes until that morning, when I read the Wikipedia pages for "Maritime Provinces," "Nova Scotia," "New Brunswick," and "Prince Edward Island." Of the four questions I didn't ace, at least three were also answerable on WikiP (gypsum, oared ship & the bay not on PEI). I had just not retained the info. (I actually new three of the bays listed were PEI; I picked the wrong one of the other two.)

I can't decide if this comment is in praise of WikiP, in derision of BT's writers or neutral. I will say that I enjoyed learning stuff I didn't know about our neighbors to the north. I hope I retain some.

Really liked the Famous & TV Dads games this week. Did very well on each of them. Wasn't going to play this Thursday but am intrigued by Family Game Night. May just have to stop and play.

Well, it figures that the only answer I was able to precall was the one on Eric Cartman's father. Image Image

That's the question that cost me a perfect - I bled a lil because RAN D precalled Jack somebody was Cartman's father (he wasn't a choice - I guess the paternity was revealed in a later episode)

Here are a few I remember:

What happens if you roll doubles three times in Monopoly?
Which of these games comes with 16 pawns and a deck of cards?
What color is the double word score in Scrabble?
Which of these can be found in Candyland?
What game might ask you to mold clay or hum a tune?
What game was invented by a wealthy Canadian couple to play on their yacht?

There were all in that same vein, it was an easy game with no obscure questions. I scored a 14,076 as I missed one and bled on a couple others.

Hells bells, POMAN, thanks a whole bunch for reminding me of the one godawful, horrible, grievous bungle that cost me a front page finish and kept me up longer than usual last night agonizing over it. Image Image Image

<--assuming that all or most of those questions can be assembled here, I might just let it be known what it was... Image

A few more (paraphrased, of course):

How many hits are needed in Battleship to sink the patrol boat?
What game requires players to shout out it's name during play?
What is the numerical goal in Baccarat?
Which of these games uses a doubling die?

I believe this one was actually, "Which of these games uses a challenge cube."

Others:

How many points does it take to go 'once around' on a cribbage board?
What piece of equipment is used in Mad Gabs?
Which game uses a three-minute timer?
Which "Clue" suspect is described as having been born in India?
