BT just updated their sitefinder and it is missing many features that used to be available.
A most definite step Backwards...again ask the players for input before making changes willy nilly.

The last reported out date is missing. (very important)
The trivia rank is missing.
The activity rank is missing. (both very helpful for travelers trying to find a decent place to play)
The bar distance from the zipcode inputted is missing.
It only shows about 8 bars then you have to click more to get the next 8 or so......dumb...put it back to the 25 it showed before.
It no longer will show you all bars for a state just for zipcodes and cities. I put in Maryland and it started showing N.VA bars before the eastern shore or western MD ones.

The set up & feel of it is cheap....I'm sure that's on purpose to appeal to the hack phone app users.

The 1st 4 items missing can be worked back into the pages...PLEASE....add those.

Of course it is, the company is full of dumbasses. They will never figure out what really is important, if I know a place hasn't/doesn't report I will never, ever go there.

I can't agree more. I can not see any hint of player input from these changes. Let's assume that most people logging on to the sitefinder function are doing it to find quality, active places to play trivia while travelling (be it business or pleasure). In the future, I will still be able to know where to go when I'm out of town, but it will take more clicking on my part. It seemed easier to find a good place to play before this change.

Would love to read this thread some time soon for some justification from Carlsbad for this alleged imrovement.

Simple. There were probably a few owners complaining that their site was ranked 3500 and it was keeping potential players away from their site.

Don't hold your breath. The only NTN Buzztime employee that seems to look in here even once in a lil while is TomD, but as most of us know he's the main man of The Content Team.

Meanwhile, just for the holy hell of it I input Sunnyvale, CA to see what would crap up. Amongst the sites that showed, Ground Round Tomah, in Wisconsin. :roll: :evil:

Even more simpler. Only way it gets improved is owners get players who can get perfects or as team get medals. Also hype that they are serious about having it or simple drop it so it won't be a headache.

I'm not sure that is the point... What percentage of bar owners even know or give a damn about their bar's ranking???

The site finder is showing the Morgantown Damon's at it's OLD (by at least 5 years) location in Clarksburg on the map...EGADS!!!

At first, I thought that there was a new site in town...COOL! Only to be disappointed.

I just spent the last few days scouting for possible sites to visit on my trip. It's not as handy as the old format, and you do get some wonky results. I searched Winnipeg, for instance, which seems to be down to 2 sites. To "complete" the list, the site finder also offered up locations in Saskatchewan, North Dakota and Minnesota

No, sir . . . I don't like it

Hey pengwn, next time you're in Winnipeg, stop by DeMori's in Oakdale, MN! First round is on me! It's only a handful of miles away. Show up at Happy Hour to meet the regulars!

Listening, Carlsbad? Hello?

I was actually thinking more along the lines of Activity Rank than Trivia rank.

I actually hope that was the reason that buzztime dropped it and not because it didn't fit nicely on apps.

If it was the prior reason, at least there was a valid purpose (to save clients).

If it was the latter reason, then that's just stupid. It was a very useful tool to the player.

I don't know if it's a cache issue on my part, but I can't get the Buzztime Site Finder to work at all. Either it says "searching..." without termination, or I get garbage, like this:

    ${displayname}
    {{if Location.Address.City.Name}} ${Location.Address.StreetAddress1}
    ${Location.Address.City.Name}, ${Location.Address.State.Name} ${Location.Address.ZipCode.ZipCodeValue} {{if Phone}}
    ${Phone} {{/if}} {{/if}}

    {{if PowerPage.OptFreeWifi}} [Free Wifi] {{/if}} {{if PowerPage.Opt21AndOver}} [21 And Over] {{/if}} {{if PowerPage.OptKidFriendly}} [Kid Friendly] {{/if}} {{if PowerPage.OptLiveMusic}} [Live Music] {{/if}} {{if PowerPage.OptFullBar}} [Full Bar] {{/if}} {{if PowerPage.OptFullMenu}} [Full Menu] {{/if}}

So something is certainly not working.

I think it's related to their roll-out of a new mobile version of the website. And wonder of wonders, they've screwed that up too. :x Take a look at http://www.buzztime.com/m to see what it looks like. Note that you can't get anything other than "My Buddies", "My History" and "My Profile", plus Schedule and the new Site Finder (links are at the top next to "Home", but are almost invisible in a "real" browser, but look fine in mobile Safari).

But, hey, the layout is nice. :roll:

That's all that you can do. No checking Premium Game Winners, promotions, Player Reward Cards, Traveling Trophy Competition standings, etc. Hell, you can't even get the full PDF schedule.

And the worst thing about it is there's no link at the bottom of the page to see the "regular" non-mobile site and if you remove the "/m" from the URL it still forces you into the mobile site, at least it does this if you are using an iPhone or iPod Touch -- I don't know about the iPad. Your only alternatives are to type in the full URL manually, follow a bookmark, find the page through Google, or use a different web browser that allows "user agent" spoofing. Fortunately I have both the Maven web browser and the free version of the Mercury web browser installed which both allow spoofing the user agent to make it look like Firefox, etc. so that I can get to the "real" web site...

Well, the good news is that Ground Round Tomah is a fine site. Good food, attentive bartenders/waitstaff, and individual TV's at tables in the bar area,

On the other hand, its a couple thousand miles or so from Sunnyvale. :roll:

Hells bells, for SiteFinder to include a site from area code 608 amongst sites that surround area code 408 is still a godawful, horrible, grievous, inexcusable bungle. Image Image

Is there any reason they can't put the monthly leaderboards from a site on the website? I don't know enough about this type of thing to know how difficult that would be, but they have the scores from every game played listed at a bar. I'm sure this could spark interest in a few who would like to visit a site and "punk" their board. It would also give you a gauge of what kind of skill level is present at a particular location.

People with their IPhone, IPad, Ipod Touch n/or Android are punking boards already by playing in two sites - where are they are at now and where they are placing their scores. DON'T ENCOURAGE THESE F***ERS ENOUGH ALREADY.

This thread is getting hijacked... The point is. You use the Sitefinder site to find the best places to play. You see which site is rated, and double check if they have reported. Since the alleged new improvements, I'd love to see if my place reported tonight, due to WiFi problems... Now we have no information about rating or reporting. Any word on that Carlsbad???

Does anyone at Buzztime even look at these posts anymore?

One thing I miss most about the site finder, and it's been missing for some time, is the distance column. We travel a lot and it was nice to know how far a site was from a hotel or point. Majority of folks use the SF when traveling I would assume. It makes no sense to me why BT would get rid of this information. :?:

While the distance data was certainly good information to have, IMO NTN Buzztime deleted them based on the assumption that players have bookmarked Google Maps, MapQuest, etc. Image

I can't find the Martinsburg, WV BWW anywhere via the Site Finder. I would think that it would still be open.

EDIT: At least they have now moved the Morgantown Damon's to MORGANTOWN. Still it only shows two sites for Morgantown, Damon's & Brick Yard Pub. No balloons for Sports Page, McClafferty's, or the BWW.

Thanks. This is a much easier way to find sites than the Site Finder,
