From an email forwarded to me by the Mezz's owner. I hope they aren't planning on splitting up premium games:

East Coast & West Coast Network Feeds Are Coming!

Some exciting changes are coming to Buzztime effective February 28th! Based on feedback from our customers, we are making some adjustments to our network. It's our goal to provide you with an entertainment and marketing solution that suits your business and its traffic patterns, while helping you boost sales, gain new patrons and convert your guests into loyal regulars. It is with these goals in mind that we're unveiling some upgrades to your Buzztime system.

East/West Network Feeds
The Buzztime network will now be split into time zone-based feeds: East Coast (ET, CT & AT) and West Coast (PT, MT, HI & AK). Not only does this mean more optimal times for your players’ favorite games, but it also means our primetime games will now line up with your higher traffic periods.

This is just the first of Buzztime's exciting upgrades coming in 2012. In the next few weeks, we'll be rolling out communication about what else is heading your way.

Have questions about the East/West networks change that takes place February 28th? Visit our FAQ to get more information. If we did not cover your question, please contact your Account Executive, who is happy to help you. And if you need technical assistance, our Customer Service Center is available to help you at (800) 745-4686.

Given that the e-mail was sent to a site owner/manager who has access to exclusive areas of the NTN Buzztime website, I'd assume that this FAQ is accessible only to site owners/managers. Image

Correctamundo. I clicked on the link and it requires an ID/PW, my buzztime ID/PW were not acceptable.

I posted this underneath -BO-'s post on the Buzztime blog:

Quote:
If the system is going to multiple feeds based on time zones, that would defeat/destroy one of the main reasons to go to a bar and play - to see how you and your bar stacks up against the other players and bars system-wide. Take that away and may as well just go to one of the 10 other similar pubs closer to home with no Buzztime if I feel like a beer. If I want trivia simply fire up the computer and play on-line non-buzztime trivia games at home

split feeds would be a hackers/cheaters feast... No interest in participating with the games any longer without viable rankings. If this goes ahead, I'm finished

I agree wholeheartedly with both BO and Steve. The idea of competition against other teams and players at the same time with some results and rankings right at the end of the game is one of the prime reasons to get out of the house and go play. Take that away and the incentive to get out after a long workday is noticeably less. Plus as Steves states the split games would seem to be great way for the systme cheats to have a field day. Seems like another in a long line of well thought out policies

Is that a blatant lie?

This puts an end to nation wide competitions and western scores will be suspect.

Well, as of a lil while ago, you contributed to the carnage on the NTN BT On Tap blog. Image

But I want to see ALL the carnage, and there's going to be plenty of it.

On a secondary note, what are the odds that we force BT to reconsider as they did somewhat in August 2008?

More carnage added the BT blog that really pissed me off.....

A snippet from BT's statement above:

"it’s no surprise that a California location is usually the top ranked Spotlight location. Perhaps most of the pop culture east coast power hitters are at home by the time it is done."

That's just insulting to the top Spotlight team on the network. It has nothing to do with the time zone difference, it's because they are the best team out there no matter what time the game is played! A top Spotlight player that has to be in bed by 10pm on a Friday night on the east coast? Seriously?

Furthermore, the best Spotlight player and team ever hailed from Michigan. That's in the eastern time zone by the way. You know why they don't play any more? Because of the changes made to the game that (once again) nobody requested. (do I sense a theme here?) Massive partial points for incorrect answers in the Flashback round in addition the final question was stated in print by this team as the sole reason they no longer congregate.

The best teams get together for the big games in all time zones no matter what time they air. Period. I'd suggest an apology to the CA team.

There is a good chance of that.

But the best voices to stop this will be the West and Mountain time bar owners/managers calling BT right away. So all you Westers start bugging the shit out of your owners/managers to call in. Or even players could call "representing" managers as I've done many a time. You only need to know the bar ID number and a manager's name.
The BT customer number is 1-800-745-4686.

In the meantime the rest should add their thoughts to the BT east BT west Blog on the website because they sure won't read this site.

I think you can see Buzztime's Facebook page without being a member of Facebook. There is a link there to the FAQ's, but they don't really answer my questions, such as "What about cheating?" The answer is basically, "We have ways of preventing that...and if you're a cheater we'll delete your account." But of course they won't stop you from playing/cheating under some other name. The FAQ's also indicate that the scores for any given game will be combined on the following day's Buzztime website, which clearly means that the games will have the same questions, east or west. I think this is a marketing brainstorm, where somebody figured west coasters weren't playing as much because they had to play premium games early. The stock is down to 25 cents a share, last I looked, and maybe this will be the death blow I'm always fearing.

When this piece of shit idea rolls out I need a volunteer. Can someone from the EAST Coast send me all the answers for a week to all the premium games, not just numbers, but answers (BT has scrambled the answers already in BT and CD, I don't know about the premiums). I will play every game not signed in, but as a guest and run the table for a week, or longer however long is necessary to prove a point..

The first fantastic game-changing difference for Buzztime and The Buzztime Nation moving forward is that there will be a Buzztime East Network and a Buzztime West Network. I’ll let that mind-blowing news sink in.

Why? Well, there are so many differences between the east and west (weather, history, food, fashion, etc.). But I won’t get into the differences between the east and the west right now… as I bet you’d probably like to know more, huh?

To Buzztime players, the biggest difference between east and west is the time difference… up to three hours depending on your location, which really is a lot with all things considered. This has caused a lot of complaints over the years. West coast players have missed a lot of their favorite games (Ex: Glory Daze) because the game airs early and most people don’t get off work in time to play. Since east coast players have to often stay late to play games like Spotlight or Trendalicious Trivia, it’s no surprise that a California location is usually the top ranked Spotlight location. Perhaps most of the pop culture east coast power hitters are at home by the time it is done.

Have no fear! Managing your Buzztime trivia and card schedule is about to get much easier. With Buzztime splitting into two Networks (East and West) everyone in the Buzztime Nation will now have convenient game times. The Networks will be split by time zones in the following way: •East: CT, ET, AT Time Zones
•West: HI, AK, PT, MT Time Zones
Buzztime’s premium games will now start during our “primetime” hour (more on that next week). Your favorite games will now run from: •East: 7:30pm ET/6:30pm CT - 9:30pm ET/8:30pm CT
•West: 7:30pm MT/6:30pm PT - 9:30pm MT/8:30pm PT

Note: Premium content for Canada will begin one hour earlier Tuesday through Friday.

Sneak Peek: The new games schedule is coming your way. Stay Tuned…

For more on the Buzztime East and West Network check out our FAQ (yes we discuss network rankings and cheaters!).

Until next time… Good luck and good fun!

Don't they know that bars from all over North America enjoy competing with each other?
Has anyone in BT management played the premium games with regular players at the bars?
The decision to split the network had to be made by people that are ignorant of their customer and player base. I can't conceive of any owners or managers that have premium game players requesting this change.

People need to get on the phones and complain. We can talk all we want here, unless you call, post on Facebook, or whatever. If everybody complains, it could stop this travesty..

This is awesome, like they have stopped that twit in AZ in LT , or any of the QB1 stuff, they seem to really crack down on the cheating. Every score from the West Coast should be questioned (and I am in that zone). As SPCL K posted on Facebook, once the integrity of the game is gone, it is gone. It only takes a few to destroy the system..

The Super Bowl is on at a bad time for me. Why don't they just have the Super Bowls between 2 teams from the NFC in one time zone and 2 teams from the AFC playing in another. If you'd like to see the 2 conferences compete, you can see that in the regular season, but this "premium" game will be held separately. Oh, and if you are curious how the two Super Bowl winners stack up against each other... You can just look at their total yardage in the paper the next day.

Btw, we won't tolerate cheating... even though coaches will know the plays the other team is running, they promise not to use that info.
