I just got off the BT conference call where the CEO Mr Bush was explaining what the upcoming "Rights Offering to Existing Stockholders" money was going to be used for. He also covered a list other important points in terms of growing the customer base.

These are paraphrased and not exact:

- The new player rewards program starts in March
- New look game graphics start in March for many games, more shorter games at lunch time, more pop oriented games late at night
- Client coupons to the players via mobile device playmakers in 2012
- Development of Tablet Playmakers with internet access and direct marketing, replacing the current playmakers
- Micro payments by players to BT for game playing tips, ranking info, scores etc on mobile devices
- Data grabbing & mining, gameplay, length of visit followed by targeted emails to entice return visit
- Badges, new reward levels and reward platforms that would put new customers on an even field with long time players, currently new players can never attain the highest levels, facebook etc
- Mobile platforms a priority
- 64% of logins are as a guest, this must change so data/emails can be mined.
- 73% of logins are by only 26% of the registered players

>>>>>>>>>>

So the big news there is the new graphics and possibly new games coming in March.

Also for those that care, the new rewards "thing" whatever it is, doesn't start till March, woop de do, no loss there. But I know for customer retention it's a good thing.

Tablet playmakers sometime down the road?? We'll see if that ever happens, Mr Bush did say that was dependent on falling prices for tablets.

And of course the ever growing data mining and increase of targeted emails.

Let's hope the new infusion of investor cash gets put to use in a good way. BTW stock price is .22.

So, just as long as I can drink my beer and play some decent trivia (with a playmaker not a phone) I'm happy. 8-)

Thanks for the post.

Interesting.

Data Mining... I could do a better job than they will. Maybe it is time to dust off my databases and add a micro-payment ScaRatings, for those of you that remember my original site.

Well, having just sat my poor tired lil old grumpy ass down to hear the webcast Image, another point I found more than a lil interesting was that NTN Buzztime has substantially increased its sales rep force. The drift I got was that the reps now service a lesser number of sites in their territories, thus (theoretically, anyway) allowing them to spend more time visiting their sites.

Assuming that to be true, it would be nice if the reps could possibly consider not only visiting their site's owners/managers, but also visiting during the times the players actually play. Then again, I couldn't blame NTN Buzztime for not wanting their sales reps to feel like fresh carrion, ripe for picking by us vulturous players. Image

Interesting. We have a new rep here who has visited us twice since the beginning of the year. Nice guy, but I have my doubts about how much accurate information he is himself getting from the overlords. I need to speak with him again in the very near future, anyway, so I'll ask him whether he is able to come in when there are players here. Perhaps the idea will trickle up...

I think reps probably work during the daylight hours, as most people do. They seldom meet real players at night.

I think BT should set up a system where bars get BT shares for each of their gold medals.
"For my first act as CEO..."
Oooh, if only...

No, SPOTES, I prefer a world where nobody really cares badly enough to cheat as to deprive 86th Street of its rightful place in the universe.

First, regarding ads: This could be done through something like Admob, as any other company does. It requires virtually no effort (I included it in a phone app once, not speaking off my ass).

Regarding tablets, actually kind of clever. They could be targeting that infernal company that is in the BW3s now. They could charge for the tablets by x time frame for a set of games to play (not Buzztime trivia, but other games, as on those tablets).

Tablets aren't that expensive to buy in bulk, btw -- well, in LARGE bulk.

I admit I'm not a securities lawyer, but I am aware of things such as companies have an obligation to disclose material information at the quarterly meetings. I'm trying to wrap my head around a CEO addressing the shareholders on a Tuesday and describing a laundry list of mostly immaterial changes without revealing to the shareholdersthat BT was about to announce a major change that affects the very essence of a major product: splitting the network in two, so that players no longer compete against the network as a whole.

Someone who's a shareholder ought to tell BT that if they carry through with their plan to split the network, it sure looks as though they engaged in deliberate concealment of material information.

Amen. I said 3 years ago that Buzztime doesn't care about long time players and it still holds true today. I find myself playing less and after March I might not play anymore. If Buzztime wants younger players they can have them. Sorry Dante you just fell in with the old players. :P

I had the exact same thought as I was catching up today with the BT news release and this thread. I don't know how long this plan to split the network has been in the works, but I'd have to think that the decision wasn't made on the spur of the moment, within a few moments after the quarterly meeting.

Although I "retired" a few years ago from Showdown, Six and the occasional weekend premium games, I agree that this network split is a huge mistake by management.

That said, I am also mindful that desperate people do desperate things. With shares selling at 22 cents, there is no doubt a great deal of pressure on management to improve earnings, and "hope springs eternal." Unfortunately, so does stupidity.

They claim that it isn't the case, but their actions speak louder than their words.

They'd never have to defend themselves on this, but if they had to, they could very easily argue that their core business is getting eyes on the screens, not in "adding players" or keeping their players happy. This is, in fact, how they usually market themselves to advertisers, with "views."

But, yes, their people don't appear to understand the legal requirements of being a public company. I'm still dumbfounded over their special stock offering not meeting the very obvious rules for doing it.

As usual, BT is looking like a headless chicken.

I've been a devoted Lunchtime player since a bar within walk9ing distance of my office got trivia. Since I retired in 2005, I play all eight games on most days I'm in La Crosse.

Whatever they have planned fior the game is probably bad. There's a real chance that I'll cut back to just playing Wednesday nights. Or just stopping in to play a few LT games while I eat lunch, as opposed to a two hour commitment.
