Yesterday I received a message with the subject line something like "Come back. AARDVK--we've missed you." I found this rather peculiar as I'd played on Saturday night. When I opened the message, it became even odder as it was telling me I hadn't played at Mike's Place. In fact we were at Mike's place maybe five weeks ago, which admittedly is longer than two days, but still seems an inordinately short period of time for BT to be worried about. But the thing I feel really odd is that the message was definitely directed to my AARDVK box, which is registered at Catbirds; I received no message about my LGLPRO box, which is the one registered at Mike's. And neither COOGS nor I have received any messages re: our other boxes.

I guess BT has the right to waste its time sending out random messages that don't make much sense to some weirdly selected subset of its players instead of dealing with the problems that keep players away. But it couldn't it at least use determine its own info on the players as displayed on our player's page on its website to determine who'd actually been away from the game from a while? Also, if I actually were dealing with someone who'd stopped playing for awhile, I think I would make an effort to lure them back by telling them something they might not want to miss such as the upcoming Topix or Trendalicious schedules, the ever ongoing movie ticket giveaways, etc. rather than just telling them "you haven't played lately," which they obviously already know.

Julia got one of these the other day. She forwarded it to me with her own response, "I guess they will be sending out a lot of these e-mails soon."

This is just the beginning of targeted emails. I got the same we miss you email for a handle I play all the time, just not where it's registered, so BT thinks I'm not playing because I haven't logged in from the home bar in 6 months.

Brooke did you see this thread? Mr Bush did talk about this very thing.

I wish I could reply, "After Feb. 28th we will not play your game again, Go Fuck Yourselves!"

I received a couple of these about a month or even longer ago on diffrent accounts that I stopped in and played at diffrent several sites other than my own like a month and a half before that. I logged in and played on separate accounts at each of the diffrent sites. These other sites I played from what I could see then no one played at it as the BT and Countdown rankings were half full half way though the month. My just want to get someone that played at one of these least played sites to get you to get back into them. Who knows with BT...
