The Good:

The Buzztime site count is up 311 sites from Dec 2008 through Dec 2009, an increase of 8.2%.

The Bad:

The site count peaked in Sept 2009 at 4142, and has dropped every month since then, with 4091 at the end of December. A loss of 51 sites. Hope it's not a trend.

Wasn't the increase due to BT taking over that other network? (I don't recall the name) I know one of the bars that I frequented had that other network & now has BT.

Damon's restructuring / bankruptcy probably did not help the site count over last year.
BW3 still seems to be expanding. Well, here at least, they opened one up the road in Williamsburg, VA.

Morgantown, WV will be up to 5 sites shortly. That's a heck of a lot of sites for a town that small, especially when the students aren't around.

The downward trend continues for the fourth straight month - Buzztime lost 16 more sites in January, down to 4075. Image

Louisville Pizza went out in December. They should have dropped it years ago.
Outside of Fshman, almost no one played there.

Well, maybe in a few markets, but here in NTN Buzztime's (Just Plain Old) Site-Poor Backyard, some of the newer site installations have been at sites that did not previously have i-am TV. Image

GRRRR, almost no one as in a handful, as in a select few, as in 4 or 5 players every month, as in a couple of regulars every blue moon. Take your pick.

4077 Buzztime locations at the end of February, up a couple from the January count of 4075.

West Virginia lost DJ's Outback, one of the few sites that gave free drinks for good scores in the state.

A little dive bar that promoted BT well and could be seen on the national boards from time to time. Located in the in the middle of nowhere, it was a fun place to stop and play a few games.

No other sites within miles.

Thanks to Sister Dale for fighting the good fight.

Calgary is down to 25 sites, with 2 more in outlying towns

Good to see High River now has a subscribing location, however. Here's hoping they don't get flooded out this spring :D

So it looks like the usual doomer scenarios if the 10Q games stayed and QB1 was cut back were....bullshit? Who woulda thunk it?

There are 11% more sites in Ontario now than in August 2007 (which is the oldest BadBob site count I could quickly locate).

As for the number of players...All I can offer is my personal experiences. I play alone or nearly alone about the same amount of time as in 2006-2007. The places that were busy during the after work have dropped off slightly (1-2 less players). The heavy smokers will skip 1 10Q game an hour for their fix...the others keep playing.

The premium game play is basically the same: A couple of sites busy for Showdown but except for the rare Friday, there are never enough players for a bar average without massive multi-boarding.

The number of BWW going up all over the place has to have helped the site numers.

It's the mom & pop sites that are going away, it would seem.

I hope that's not the case as the mom and pop sites are the most fun and usually have better food. I go to two BWWs locally and they are not my favorite trivia places.

I'd much rather play at a mom & pop site. Two new sites just opened in Morgantown. The one is truly a mom & pop site.

Same here. For the year or so when we didn't have any choice but BWW our group cut our play back from twice a week or so to maybe once a month.

Well, I'm more than a lil glad that there are still no BWWs here in NTN Buzztime's (Just Plain Old) Site-Poor Backyard. Image FWIW, I have been to 26, most of those in the Las Vegas and Louisville areas.

IMO, there are several issues that makes BWWs less than highly desirable NTN Buzztime sites. In no particular order:

The godawful, horrible lag at more than a few. Image

The asinine policy of cranking up the volume of both music and monitors. Image

The lack of stability of staff at all levels, more often than not resulting in indifference of staff towards specific needs of NTN Buzztime players. Image

I agree totally with your opinions. It's awfully hard to yell out answers for other players to hear when the audio is audible 2 blocks away.

Twice, someone has programmed Six out and some of us didn't notice until it was too late. Fortunately, I wasn't there both times. Wednesday, the manager and I will be talking about this as he assured us that he would be supporting our Wednesdays.
