Looks as though they're coming sooner rather than later. Of concern is the fact that QB1 is not on the list of supported games. Neither is Speed Freaks and Ask it Already.

From my experience, it's noisy. Lots of people come for the "cheap" wings. It's not so bad if you are a solo player, but it makes team play pretty difficult.

I suppose it depends on the location, though.

Probably BT's way of letting us know QB1 has succumbed to death-by-no-longer-being-the-default and SF and AIA will be getting replaced with something they think will appeal to the Milleniums.

If when they get the list of locations up, anywhere in Houston is on it, I'll go check the tablet out.

According to one of the managers at the lone BWW in NTN Buzztime's Site-Poor Backyard (Chula Vista), the tablets are indeed coming. When, remains to be seen (at least, that's what he said to me). :(

Here is my fear with the tablets (and we play at a BWW as our "secondary" location). If these tablets are loaded with other games and stuff, you will see parents grabbing them for their kids so they will be occupied while the parents watch the games and eat, leaving few tablets for Buzztime players.

Looks like they solved the issue of 3 networks on 2 channels:

Play Trivia and Sports games against others on our nationwide network
Play Cards with others at your location

Does that mean people in the bar can play regular Trivia, Sports Triva, or Cards?

Curious if there is ANYTHING new Buzztime could come up with that people wouldn't bitch about before even trying it? New tablets may suck and they may have problems, we'll have to wait and see, but who honestly didn't think that something like this would have to come around eventually? I would think that 5 kids playing games on tablets would benefit Buzztime more than 1 guy playing 5 playmakers. It is more of a true demand for their product and bars/restaurants would be more likely to order additional boxes for demand like that. If Buzztime were to somehow survive for another hundred years does anyone think that it would still be on a bulky plastic blue box?

Something tells me that any benefit of playing games other than BT games will not go to BT, but instead to BWW.

EDIT - Seems like this promotion, supposedly to start on 12/17, would have by now disclosed which BWWs will be involved.

Just spotted this...

ELIGIBILITY: The Tablet Takeover Sweepstakes Promotion (“Promotion”) is open to all current PlayersPlus® members, at participating Buzztime® locations, who are legal residents of Texas, New Jersey or Pennsylvania and 21 years of age or older at the time of entry.

That's from BT's website, so apparently only folks in three states are eligible.

That makes me think that the tablet rollout will only be in those states for now.

Not that it matters... BWW is still BWW, and therefore sucks.

Visiting our daughter in Iowa for five weeks, we played at a BWW on Blairs Ferry Road in Cedar Rapids, and the BWW Hot Wing Tuesday Trivia is just Countdown--three games of it, as I recall. When we asked to play Showdown and Brainbusters instead, somebody changed the channel and that's what we got. Except the last week we played, when the manager claimed that he couldn't change to SD/BB--literally could not do it on his selector thingy. So we played the three Countdown games. There were four of us, counting my daughter and her BF, and we had lined up six boxes so we could compete in Showdown. Anyway, this couple we were "warned" about by other players earlier sat down at a table next to ours and the wife pulled out a laptop and proceeded to look up answers for her husband, who was playing one box. I'm very happy to report that he finished seventh (behind our six boxes) each of the three games, and they stalked out, glaring at us, since obviously we had cheated by playing as a team. I suspect the manager's inability to change the channel to SD/BB was per their request. Incidentally, the national scores for Hot Wing Tuesday Trivia showed many locations other than BWWs.

Hmmm, I'll bet the other locations that showed up when you were playing Hot Wing Tuesday Trivia (Countdown) included a bunch of locations in the Mountain and Pacific time zones that were playing the regular Countdown game since Buzztime says that's one one live feed that you join or leave before and after the premiums.

If Buzztime is going on the same tablet that B-dubs has been testing in some locations with other games then I say the end of trivia will be coming soon. The current tablets are so big that playing more than two at once would be impossible. I have not used the tablets they have now. But, I believe you had to pay to play the games loaded on the tablet. If this is true, I will be playing even less than I am playing now. I am down to 3 or 4 times a month. I will not pay to play this game.

As a an ancient female neanderthal, who doesnt even use a cell phone, and still has a desk-top computer not one of those dern newfangled thingies, i guess once the tablet is installed buzzwide, i will no longer be able to participate. Sad state of affairs since now i once more have a local bt site - the new owners of the Westerly Hotel in Courtenay having finally seen the "light of day". Well, as long as the blue boxes prevail i will still continue to give Liljol and agfox/auvixen a hard time on the lunchtime boards.

Well, I do have a cell phone and a tablet (at home, I still prefer a desktop computer though.) However, the best part of the current Playmakers is that I can feel the buttons, so that I don't have to look at them before choosing my answer. Although I like my tablet, and there are so many things it does extremely well, it simply is not the optimal device for playing Buzztime's product.

I thought they would start in Ohio with so many locations in that state.

Not interested in driving from Houston to Fort Worth, so I'll just have to wait for them to come closer. Seems a more prudent strategy from BT's end would have been to wait until the tablets were generally available in the states eligible to participate in the promotion, THEN set the start date and begin advertising it.
