High prices for at best average food. Higher prices on beer than locally owned sports bars. But, the stock just keeps going up.

Not really that hard to believe. Although LEWSER may disagree with me, BDubs is a very well run company. Marketing and creating an atmosphere where many are willing to pay more for the same (or less) has been carried out very well by this group.

I'm not the biggest fan of McDonald's but still eat there often.

When I first started playing buzztime I frequented a BWW, but the prices started going up and the food quality went down, so I moved on to the lesser known locations. Better food, cheaper beer, lower prices... that means I can play more often. 8-)

UPDATE: The financials are going higher and higher for BWW.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=bwld

TOLLE is correct, BWW is a well-run company, even if you don't much care for the experience. Since they are a publicly-traded company, the management is more beholden to their shareholders than us customers.

I'm not even a big fan of BWW, but I am glad that they have NTN Buzztime. Without the BWW account, NTN would have to frantically search for another major corporate chain, or go out of business.

I made almost the same comment to our trivia team when someone mentioned that half of the top 20 locations (west feed) for a particular game were from BWW sites.

If BWW keeps Buzztime going, then we all have a place to play.

All true. I play there very rarely except when traveling lately. Up until about 2007 it was feasible to be at a BWW as much as I am at bars but it has become absurd when the price for, say, half a dozen beers and a couple of food orders between two people now hits $70 before the tip, 5 nights a week (my current home delivers the same at about $30-35). Their market though is not the 5 night a week 3 hour barwarmers. It's sports crowds who need 50 huge TVs at full volume and screaming patrons to enjoy the 'atmosphere', and families for whom it's a special treat with food kids will eat. And they are very good at it. McDonalds and Budweiser have long proven that consistent predictability regardless of location and flashy marketing appeal more than quality. BWW just applied that to bars very successfully.

A barn sized place with lots of oversized screens, all sports packages, young staff and predictable food is a license to print money in the US bar scene.

Actually, I don't disagree with you. I prefer ma & pa shops by far, but in my area there isn't much choice. BWW isn't my favorite by far, but since I don't get out much besides Wednesdays, and that is for Live Trivia across the street.

It's a numbers thing. Of the ten buzztime locations closest to me, eight of them are BWW. One of the non-BWW places I haven't been to, as it is over 30 minutes away. The other one is 16 minutes, and I've been there enough to say that BWW is actually better in quality, at least when it comes to food (I don't like beer). And the BWW in my town has nights where it's pretty dead. As my dad I played on this past Wednesday, it thinned out to maybe one other table occupied in the whole of the dining section. Thursdays are decidedly busier. One week the hostess called my name and this guy jumped in line in front of me, claiming to be me. He took his kids to our table then almost immediately we were seated next to them. It was very awkward and pointless for him to do. But that should tell you how busy it gets sometimes. It's not commonly that busy when we play, though.

So my options are a BWW two minutes from my house or an independent that is of equal or lesser quality that's much farther away. The farther something is, the better it needs to be if it's going to attract customers. I don't have such a place around here so it's BWW for me.

I don't have a problem with BWW. My home location is one. Since I'm a well-known regular, management usually takes care of me.
