Thanks buzztime. I've been thinking about taking an extended break from trivia but I kept going back because of my local HST... I wanted to maintain them. Which I have for nearly two years now. Played Scifiles and saw that the merge wiped the local HST clean. I'll be back but I'm going to take a bit of a break, I think.

I thought the High Score tables should have been preserved, but is it really that big a deal?

The West seemed to come out with a vengence tonight. Good to be competing against all of the US and Canada once more.

Since the West is now involved, it's considered a "new game." The database just needs to re-set itself. Calm down. I'm sure you'll take over the HST again.

Good grief.

MrGray, see the last post of "Network Schedule Merge Its Happening". The sheep loving author explains the situation as it happened in the past quite well.

Guys it's not that it's a super big deal for me, it's just a good time for me to take a break. I am starting my own business and developing a game over the next several months. Building a HST takes time. Minimum 10 weeks just to fill it up, and you try to set goals for yourself after that. It'd probably take me 6 months or so to hit higher end goals for our HSTs. Like there's getting all ten spots for Six, then making sure you need above 40k to get on the board. Then make it so you need 45k, etc. It's just a hassle when my coder has a 9-5 then has to get the kids in bed before we can meet up. Today he swung by right after Scifiles and we went to my office since I hadn't ordered yet and we've had all sorts of delays. He's not going to want to start our sessions after 10 PM. Fucking with the long haul of building up the local HST is not all that interesting a prospect atm.

Dude, aim higher.

You know what's better about building a HST? Fucking one up. Walking into some bar where one guy has the top 10 all to himself and then putting up the top score. Now his 2-10 scores mean absolutely nothing when someone else has #1. One solitary game just ruined one year's worth of work.

Hadn't occurred to me that the scores would reset. Damn. I'll miss the wall of perfection we had going for Topix. Oh well. Time to rebuild starting tonight.

Nah. It was a pleasure to actually show up to play and be surprised by the merge, which I didn't hear about since I'm playing so infrequently these last few months. IMHO the reset is a reasonable price to pay for that.

Hope everyone has fun at Triviapalozza!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. We'll see what happens. Hoping Team Sports will be the first of many, but one thing at a time.

Noticed something weird with the local top score reboot last night. While last year's scores were wiped out, we had a few nugatory scores show up, some from names I recognized as site players and some not. Not a full page, but maybe 7-8 Six scores ranging from say 11000 to 25000. Stray data from before my time? Obviously no national Six scores in last 12 mos. Won't take long to get rid of them but curious why there at all.
