New Scaratings

It looks like the end. The owner has been having an issue with the building owner for several months. There has been injunctions, lawsuits, etc. The landlord has constantly raised the rent (not fixed the A/C for weeks on end, in Vegas this is VERY important), DAWG the bar owner has found a new place, and he will contact us when they are up and running again. It has been my experience that once trivia is removed or suspended it is on it's last legs. I am fairly certain it will come back to A's & 8's, DAWG enjoys having us around we don't cause trouble unless someone decides it is Fight Club time. I have always said that if A's & 8's ever pulled the plug I was done. I don't think I will play until it comes back, I will not become a regular at the fucking shitty BWWs, I would rather shave my beard with a dull butter knife. If it doesn't come back to Aces, so be it. I might still go out if someone says they are coming to town, but you have to give me notice (if you even want me there). The other sites in town are just not that appealing: BWWs speak for themselves (fucking lag exists I don't care what BT brass says), plus BWWs are more expensive than any bar in town, and the food is marginal at best; PTs-I like the place, food is decent and the beer is way cheap-only 7-8 boxes working=not worth my time to travel all the way across town to not play; Torrey Pines Pub-excellent food, decent prices, nice bar, 8 boxes that work-again, not worth driving all the way across town; Inn Zone Rainbow-excellent prices, no food (which takes it out as a regular spot for the wife, and many others who like to eat), but no-one plays there-so, I bet it isn't long for this world as a trivia bar, one plus last time I was there they had 20 boxes.

So, what I am saying is, "So long and thanks for all the Fish."

It always sucks when your home location loses trivia. I hope you will be able to find a non-BWW and lasting location soon.

We won't. I would rather quit playing altogether than become a regular at a BWW. When Aces and Eights finally shuts the doors (we were told on Friday 2-5 days later it would be closed until the relocation is finished-I bet it is more like 2 months), I will use the time off to lose weight. If I don't drink beer I will lose 50lbs in 2 months with no dieting.

That sucks, I had planned on checking out A & 8s the next time I went to Vegas (hopefully this fall). Not interested in going all the Vegas to visit a Bdubs, but maybe we could hit one of the other spots.

If you do, will you take a picture in profile every day so we can line them up in a slideshow and watch you shrink?

I talked to the owner last night it is still up in the air on where they are moving to. But, we do know it is imperative they be up and running before NFL season. This is huge for them, they are the Steelers bar in Vegas and they are elbow to elbow for every Steelers game. DAWG said it could be as little as 1 month to as long as 6 months. There are so many options to move into the area, but each has it's own issues; the space down the street ready to move in has no kitchen; we told him about the Sizzler across the street being for sale months ago, he just waited too long and now it is gone. He also doesn't want to move too far from the spot he is at now, since it is a neighborhood bar for the most part.

Who knows how long my break will be. We all signed the book so he can get in touch with us when they are up and running again.

I will be like the guy that did the shaving his beard in reverse. I won't take pictures, but maybe I will make small thumbnails and paste them into a book and flip through the pages.

That's too bad Bobby. Vegas has always had a problem with bars dropping BT or closing down.

The Passport years were crazy for the Vegas team, was it about 10 bars over 3 -4 years.

So I was a bit surprised that As & 8s lasted as long as they did. I still wear the tshirt I got there all the time. It was a great run, hope he finds a new spot to reopen.

Good luck and hope to see you on the boards anyway, just not at a BWW. I'm sure you can find something for the time being like the Inn Zone Rainbow, you can get them into shape, do they let you order food in?
