Will be interested if the power comes back on in Cali land in time for it to push out properly.

Power seems to have been restored in most of The (Just Plain Old) Site-Poor Backyard as of earlier this morning. Preliminary estimates indicated the possibility of power not being restored until much later today.

How this impacts NTN Buzztime, Inc. operations has yet to be determined.

I don't hate the game , nor do I love it.

First and foremost, being a new game it distressed me immensely not knowing the timing for smoke/potty breaks.

When the game started it asked me to join a team and before I could it assigned me to what proved to be a loser and now I have no chance of winning the $50. What's fair payback Buzztime?

After the game there was no confirmation as to whether I made Players Plus or not.

I'm undecided as to play next week, program the game out or just go home.

Before playing this game, my opinion was this is not a good game for Friday night.

After playing the game, my opinion is unchanged. Buzztime can boast "it's not all about sports" all it wants. It's primarily about football. I can imagine a lot of people who have nothing more than a casual interest in football & who came out to play Speed Freaks / Topix / Spotlight probably were very unhappy tonight. Buzztime has now given them two choices: don't arrive until Spotlight starts or stay home.

This would be a perfect game to run before Sports Trivia and/or Sports IQ. But not before Spotlight.

As for the game itself, overall, I thought it was okay.

I did like how it gave the network scores at the end of each quarter...although doing it halftime too (after just six questions or however many # of questions were in that round) was too excessive.

The negatives:

The pace of the game seemed extremely slow. I liked the pace much better during the 2 Minute Warning & Halftime questions.

It's also a big fail that the potential score you're going to get for the question (as the points timer is counting down) is not displayed on the Playmaker after you select your answer. That's done for every game that has a points timer. It's done for the bread & butter games (Countdown / buzztime). There's no excuse not to have it for this game.

It's unclear how the team score is determined. Do they take the average of everyone playing? Do they take the average of the top 100 players on the team? How is it determined? If it's the average of everyone on the team, then it won't be long before players get the idea to log in as a member of the opposing team to sabotage that team's score. Buzztime has to make it clear how they're compiling the team score.

Yet another game with a final question wager. But at least you can only lose 25% now instead of 50% I was sure the final answer was the Dolphins, but they weren't a choice :o After I got home, I looked up Miami's results from previous seasons...and noticed they played in Canada in 2008  As Time Goes By, indeed.

Will I play it again? Yeah, but only because I'm going out to play Spotlight. The game by itself does nothing for me. I don't plan on playing any more or less on Friday night than I already do now.

I wasn't wild about it. I agree that the lack of information about game status shared with players is appalling. I may or may not play again. Not a destination game.

So, even if you had already picked a team on the website, the first thing this game confirms is , "Is that your team?" Huh?

I do not know enough about football for this to ever be my favorite game, but I liked the overall game design more than the other people who have posted here so far. I thought the pace was OK - 44 questions over the course of an hour, so it did not seem especially pokey to me. One new thing that I did like was the way they showed national ranks throughout the game.

Most of the content was pretty current. This helps someone like me, because I had heard about some of the people/events on the news, but my teamie Reb, who is a real fan, was hoping for more questions about past games and players. So comments that the questions were too easy are not surprising, and I would assume that most people who are really into football will think that. (They did throw a few bones to us non-football fans; questions about the Chicago Bears being plantigrade, and that a player's eustachian tubes are aka auditory tubes, are much more along my alley, and not about football at all.)

I do wish they placed this in a slot that would target sports fans, rather than bump the Friday games that led in to Spotlight.

The team doesn't have to go undefeated, it just has to win the championship.

After last night, Carolina has the biggest team (800+ players). The next closest teams have 400+ players. I assume that Carolina was the top default choice on the menu last night and a lot of players just hit that button so they could play. So that means that the most $50 cards that buzztime will award at the end of the season is 800+.

How much do you want to bet that the top default choice for next week's game will be a different team than Carolina? That will knock out a lot of the 800+ group...they'll probably be down to 400+ or even 300+ already by week 2.

A fun game to play for us on here: predict how many $50 cards buzztime will actually have to award at the end of the season? I'd put that over / under at 50, and that number might even be way too high.

I'll predict 18.

At Hardtimes most of us thought the game was fine. One didn't like it and she wanted the regular programing not a sports game and it was 98% sports. Some questions were very easy some were just right, overall a decent game for those that like football. 44 questions in an hour was not slow.

We whiffed on the final q after doing pretty well up to that point, most of us were in the national rankings through 3 qtrs.

The Redskins held on to beat the Giants. The Giants had the 5th best score with 19764, too bad they were playing the team with the 3rd best score 21734. For the record there were 56 playings for the Redskins and 48 for NYG including all the Megumis.

Congrats to VIC and co. in Tampa for pushing up the #1 team score and Brandy/BigJ etc helped Houston to 2nd. Washington and New England were 3rd & 4th.

It was fun to play a new game.....bring on the Cardinals.

Weak. Way too slow (the 44 questions in an hour is only achieved by the the two two-minute warning rounds). Way too easy (one question was basically, "Who plays in Oakland?") No explanation as to how the team scores are determined. An hour of easy questions for the game to be determined by one obscure question at the end (and no I'm not whining... I got it right).

should this have been a game that could have been test marketed by a select group of regulars, randomly selected by Buzztime (so as to not have only sports fans), to see if it would work well, was too sports oriented, would Friday be better than a different day?

Yes, it should have.

BTT should have as well.

And 10Q specialty games.

And remaking Six.

And adding a final question to Spotlight.

And remaking Playback.

And all of the above are colossal failures.

Last time NTN/BT solicited core player feedback was ~2002. (insert LILJOL rant on such here) Coincidentally, back then play was almost double the current level.

For those who are curious, of the 44 questions, 17 had absolutely nothing to do with football.

Actually I like the current version of Six and think it their best premium game even if they stumbled upon it by mistake. Some of their bigger mistakes are the games eliminated such as Mini-Six, "real" Wipeout, Jukebox and Retroactive.

I think next week I'll just have "The Season" programmed out or play Golden Tee.

You think the current version of Six is better than a couple of years ago when they had a real first round, a matching round with 6 choices, a third round that didn't last forever, and a last round without an end of round bonus that nobody asked for and that didn't work correctly for several months?

Six is still a good game, it just used to be a tremendously awesome game.

Sometimes I think Buzztime's new purpose is to increase the seating turn-over at BWW. You would think the tiny wings would make people leave quickly enough without Buzztime's help.

For those of you that can't or won't do Facebook, NTN Buzztime Inc. held what they advertised as "'The Season' Premier Player/Employee Mixer" at Q's Restaurant in Oceanside, the closest existing site to NTN Buzztime's offices in Carlsbad, from 4:30 - 6:30 P.M. What follows are the first two paragraphs and the first sentence of the third from another post on another list:

"I got to Q's around 4:15 P.M. A few NTN Buzztime employees were already there, waiting for whomever coordinates the monitors at Q's to switch the monitors in that area to NTN Buzztime. From around that time until the start of The Season, I had the chance to let out a few questions and opinions to one of them (whom I've already forgotten), some of which had been previously expressed on their Facebook page.

I was told that the new CEO is more dedicated to getting players' opinions than in the past. As I understand it, the objective is to have a triangle effect, with the subscribing sites on a side and the players on another. My reply was that, speaking for maybe a few players, the perception is that the present situation is more like a totem pole, with the players at the bottom.

Other than one known former employee and maybe a couple of spouses of employees, I was the only player there."
